im trying to find out which would be the better choice- the 8in crank with the stock novi pulley or to go with the f150 crank and a 2.75 supercharger pulley
also
which makes boost quicker- the 8in crank or the 2.75
overall which would be the better choice

Scott, I went with the blower pulley, it was cheaper. :D
FWIW, the 2.75" and the F-150 will put the blower at just barely under 55k RPM's at 6500 RPM's on the motor.
Ohh and I have a 2.75 in stock with your name on it :)

There's an upside and a downside. With the small blower pulley there's less chance of puking PS fluid or burning up accessories by overdriving them. The downside, smaller pulley has less surface area so it is more prone to belt slippage.
Does anyone know how much boost the 2.75"/F150 combo makes?? Over 10psi? The 8" crank is well known for providing 15 psi and soggy undies. :)
The 2.75"/F150 combo would be cheaper than the 8" unless you can find a used 8" somewhere.

I'm running a 2.75/F-150 pulley but I'm not showing boost on my vacuum /boost gauge (it's tee'd of at the firewall junction on the drivers side) and I hope to resolve that..Quote:

I used to run the 2.75" and the F-150 pulley on my setup. Loved it because the 2.75 seemed to bring the boost on quicker. Never had any issues with belt slip. I threw an 8" pulley on back in Feb and have yet to get the car to the track, and have yet to get all the kinks worked out of it. I don't know if its the Stewart water pump causing the problems, but the cobra water pump pulley and the 8" seem to rub on my car. The pulley's have been to the machine shop 6 times now, and the 8" still needs to go back. If you get the 8" you also need the Cobra w/p pulley, another $25-30 on top of the 8" which was $185 through ASP for me. My 2.75 was $100 through ASP and my F-150 was $15 through the local junkyard. Definately cheaper to go the 2 pulley setup. Not sure what Ian wants for his pulley's but I am sure they are well worth it, and a lot less expensive that ASP. I have debated selling the 8" and going back to my old setup just because of the issues I am having. If milling this pulley down doesn't work, its getting the boot.

If you do go the 2.75" route get one form Ian cause one of his pulley's are gonna be what you "might" find a used one for.
chris h how much boost were u making with the 2.75 - f-150 setup at about 6000 and how much are you making now with the 8 inch ? also are you running a powerpipe
I was making close to 7-7.5psi with the 2.75 and the f-150. Keep in mind though I am running at 4,100' plus whatever the temp is for the day. Went to the track today with it being 80* outside and the corrected air was almost 6,000' so I will see less boost than you will. With the 8" and the few times I have gotten on it since its still not running right, I have seen close to 10psi. And yes, I am running an Anderson Powerpipe.
