Required Accessories?
Hey guys,
I'm considering purchasing one of the 1000 kits, but I need to determine the total scope of the investment first. Aside from the actual purchase of the kit, what other hardware is required to run the kit safely on a stock 91 5L?
The car is used exclusively for road racing, so my primary concern is reliability over peak power.

The three main things I can think of are...
1 Get a steel discharge tube to replace the cheap *** plastic one that comes with the kit.
2 It absolutely needs a bypass valve installed to run correctly or it will buck and jerk until there is no tommorrow.
3 You should get the proper size injectors and set the car up to run with NO FMU for optimal drivability. 30pounders is plenty for a stock longblock car.
4 If you can afford it after all that get a good wideband dynotune for added insurance.
There is already a ton of advice here in Ian's site so cruise around and suck up all you can. If that's not enough then try a search in Corral.net

You've probably already upgraded the fuel pump, but I think that's a good idea.
Mine is totally stock (1990 5.0), except for a steel outlet tube (and a Walbro 255 lph high-pressure pump): I have no bucking or jerking, it just runs great.
I am planning to add a Bosch bypass valve ($30 + plumbing), and a Crane ignition one of these days.

I think that just about covers it, awesome replies.
I really have to get working on that FAQ section :)

Thanks guys. I'm going to visit a shop that recently did a 1000 install to get some info on how the install went.
