VR-4 Rotational Torque Question

I am rebuilding my VR-4 after getting together I got 54in/lbs for my rotational torque with everything wet but empty (fluid) and no seals in. Now this is what I was shooting for, but after double checking some of my research I am unsure if I am supposed to have 54in/lbs with the seals in or with them out. Like I stated, my numbers were with seals out.

How much more will the seals add to my figures?

Also, I think have some room to shim the impeller out to the inlet as it seems to be at .020 clearance to the case and the inlet side. Is this beneficial to shim it out to the inlet side more or should I leave it as is?

Also, is there a write up on how to disassemble the oil pump? I have found anything in my research so far, but I'm not done searching yet.

I have 46 inch/pound with everything installed with oil.
Some here have 54 aswell, but I would not like it that high.
I am not sure how much drag the rearseal will have, I doubt not much.

Behind the oilfilterscreen is a large screw that is secured with locktide if you unscrew it then there is a spring and the oilpump rod.

I always went for 54-56in/lbs dry with lubricated internals and rear seal installed wet.

so you both agree I am too high at this point.

I will reset it up and probably shot for 48-50in/lb with the seals out. I can't find how much of a difference the seals make verses not having them in.

I would do the same, but remember when bolting the case together you can adjust the rotational torque by using extra torque on the case bolts, it helped me about 4 inch/pound

Yeah, I torqued them to 120in/lbs which seems to be the minimum and I think that I can go up to 150in/lbs. I would prefer to set it up at 120in/lbs so that later on I can tighten it up if I have to after some miles have been put on.

Funny thing happend to me, a year ago I had the vr4 at 46 inch/lbs and now while replacing a idler pulley I rechecked the pulley torque and... I measure 51 inch/lbs, weird but I keep it that way
