I've been reading alot about how the F150 crank pulley can actually increase boost by 2-4 psi. What year F150 pulley and other pulleys should I get most especially since I plan to run around 8-9 psi.:(

1996, and if you are running P/S make sure you have the same size pulley. They must be 1:1

yep get you one from around a 96 f150/explorer 5.0. mine came off of a 96 explorer for $20 at a junk yard. i haven't put a different pulley on the p.s. pump either and it has been fine for now, knock on wood. i figured no more than a p.s. pump is from autozone i'll just leave it the way it is for now. if i ruin the pump from overspinning i'll buy a new pump from autozone and go to the junkyard and get the pulley off of the p.s. pump from the explorer. i would like to put a different pulley on the alternator though, i have one from the paxton kit, need to get it on there. after i put the pulley on i started seeing 9psi out of it. not bad for $20 huh.
I used one from a 1996 F-250 (351/5.8 liter) it worked fine! $5.00 was its cost, I said to myself... "self, thats a deal" Lets get it! It worked out okay.
LOL, your posts just keep getting more entertaining :)
Thanks guys, :) I really do appreciate the help out there;) This is a real supportive site that makes me appreciate my Novi even more.

I have checked on my very own 96 F 150 and it is not 1:1 from the factory. The F 150 pulley is about 6.5" in dia and the pump pulley on my truck is just under 6" in dia.
However I do support your 1:1 rule when you can.
I for one do run a larger 7" pump pulley on mine that I took off a 3.8 V6 ford. I didn't do it for fear of overspinning the pump though, it was more for the half of horsepower that I might get out of the deal.:)
The years for the 6.5inch crank pulley start in the late 80's up through around 96 and can be had from 5.0 5.8 and I believe even the 4.9 six.
If anyone has any trouble finding one of these just e mail me.
Sometimes it's hard to get pulleys off of cars in a yard because they want to try and keep engines as complete as possible.
Ok I just went and checked my 3.8 V6 pump pulley and it is 7" in dia.
Thanks Steve,
You have answered a lot of my questions. This is exactly what I need before I dive into seeking extra boost. I will check the junk yard first before inquiring with you. If your not presently experiencing your p/s fluid flushing out, it may be an acceptable combo size. Rather than me reinvent the wheel I'd rather listen to ideas such as yours.

Troy
