Well my t-5 is on it's way out the door because of a reason I don't feel like filling you in on :) :bonk:
So I was thinking of driving it till it blows up, and than putting a Tremec in, but I really don't feel like buying a different bell + modifying the crossmember.......
I was just wondering what trans you all think is the best
Most of you will say put a Automatic in, but I want a stick.
All Opinions please.....

Give G-Force (717) 867-4352 a call about their new rebuild kit for a T-5. I like my T-5 also. I talked to Bubba at G-Force and he told me the rebuild kit will handle roughly 600hp or 500ft-lb of torque. I am goig to give the kit a try when I build my 331.

hmm, yeah but I just a baught a brand new clutch and it looks to me as that they changed it to a 26 spline Input shaft....

Someone else correct me if I'm wrong but, I'm pretty sure that you could just buy the clutch disc itself with the correct spline for what you'll need and then use your pressure plate that you already have.
I haven't run across much feedback on the g-force trans.
i have a tremec 3550 for sale fresh out of my car... I loved the tremec, didn't have to modify the crossmember, just tweak it a little. all you need is a different bell. I used the lakewood shield with mine for extra protection. I want to go c4 now, me tired of the inconsistentcies of the Stick
5150 LX: I already have abrand new clutch why spend extra money just for another clutch..
Neil: What year car do you have? What do you mean Tweak it a little? How far off was the bolt holes?
Also what else is needed to use a Tremec 3550? Would the shifter off my t-5 work on it?

all tremecs come with a shifter. I personally like the steedas or pro 5.0's though.
and 5150 is just talking about buing the actual friction disk, not buying an entire new clutch setup.

well Brandon I know you could buy one, but since I just got one with my setup why buy anither disc? It doesn't matter really I think I might be going to the Tremec route... Just need to investigate on the hole install on a 90 body before I jump into it. + I waiting till this one goes..
Tremec 3550 uses the same clutch as the T5 (I re-used my King Cobra), but the TKO uses the 26 spline (T56) clutch. The x-member, you just need to grind off the spot welds so you can shift the x-member back&forth on the mounting loops. The shifter is different from the T5, but they all come with a new one, just not a very good shifter. The BH can be found in the JY, don't need to find a '79 Mustang w/ SROD, there were millions of F150s and E150s produced with the SROD tranny. I still bought a new BH anyway with my new 3550. I recommend a new shift fork and an adjustable clutch setup as well.
Chris, When I order in a few weeks not yet just planning ahead. I am going to get steel bell, tremec 3550 from D&D Performance. It's $1199 for the Tremec and $269 for the Bell, and $70 to ship.
I have a Single hook Quadrant, Adjustable cable, but I don't have the firewall Adjuster.
And when talking to them they told me to grind the spot welds and move it back about 1" so it would fit.
i would suggest getting the lakewood clutch fork, it's a little longer than the stock one, and if you ever go to a SFI bell, your going to need the extra length to get the alignment of the cable correct. this is a "just in case"
Neil: I am putting on a Mcleod Steel bell. Do you think I should still get that fork? Also I have read about the dowl pins comming off of the motor. Do I need to get new ones? I read quite abit of it not being aligned correctly. Did you have problems?
I want to get everything squared away within the next few weeks. You know of what I am buying and how it's going to be to install.
I found out about the crossmember off the corral. I saw a pic on how to moce the crossmember back. All you need to do is grind the spot welds and re-weld it "nothing big"

i think the lakewood fork is a good move personally. Stock forks are weak after time, and it' s not too expensive.
I had no problems with dowel pins or alignment. the lakewood bell is suppposed to be such a pain to install with setting it up perfect and all, i had no issues whatsoever.
