I know very little about the MARK VIII fans, except they use quite a bit of current. I personally like the Flex-a-lite Black Magic 5.0 fan. I just installed it a week ago and it works perectly. Even has a circuit breaker to protect the fan. My neighbor is an AC Tech and he used a probe to measure the CFM at idle in his garage. It was 3100CFM average. Not bad when you consider it's rated at 2800CFM ;) Hehe.. Draws 13.9A max.Quote:

I had the balck magic and i had cooling issues. I like the Mark VIII but it looks tight.
I always wondered about the black magic fan, but I was at a car show today and say a blown dodge charger daytona with a black magic fan...I use a black magic with my Novi 2000, and the crank pulley is very close. You might want to try the dual flex-a-lites or something along those lines.
Are you sure? (no offense.. just wonderinf if it might have been a bad fan) I know several guys pushing 750+rwhp and they run the black magic with zero issues on griffin or fluidynes and that's on humid, summer days in Florida..Quote:

So I take it that the pulley is so close to the black magic fan I will need to lift the fan to install the blower belt on the crank pulley. I have a 3-row rad so will I clear the fan with my 7" blower pulley? I guess since Jegs is only 20 miles away I will buy the Proform unit that is a black magic clone for only $139 and that includes the thermostat and power breaker and see if it fits. If not I will just return it.
I use dual SPAL electrics with a stock radiator. Never had a cooling problem.
I'm running a Mark8 fan. I had to angle the bottom of the radiator forward to get enough clearance.

Wow! you raised your Mark VIII fan allot. It is about 1/2" - 1" above your radiator.
Here's a good page a guy put together about installing the VIII fan on a 5.0. some good info here:
