Booooost
I can't decide which way to go; ASP's 8" crankshaft pulley or Paxton's 2.75" blower pulley. The blower pulley costs $79.95 , but i'm not sure how much the ASP crank pulley is. AND ALSO , How does each compare in boost output ? If i go with the 2.75" blower pulley i will also be using the F-150 crank pulley with it. Anyone know how much boost that will be ? Compared to the 8" crank pulley by ASP with the stock blower pulley ?

I am wanting to try this aswell.
There is a person on the site that runs that set up I think its mikeymustang???
He says he makes 10#'s on his site.
-
I actualyy have that same exact set up. I have the 2.75" blower pulley and the F-150 crank pulley. I am at 4100ft elevation and I am seeing about 8psi give or take. Just depends on the air that day. Kinda hard to make boost in thin air. When I added the Novi 1000 to the car, I was seeing about 4psi. I added the blower pulley and was seeing about 4.5 I wasn't too happy with that. I then added the f-150 pulley and now I see about 8psi. Hope this helps some.

so your saying the 2.75" blower pulley only added about 1/2 lb of boost, i just thought it would add more than that! any way, i live at sea level .....what would your guess be for boost there?
-
Well for what its worth, I don't know what our kits make at sea level. I know I made 4psi at 4100 ft. My buddy has a 9psi Powerdyne and was seeing about 6.5psi. Just depends on the air. I don't see why you wouldn't get a pound to 2 pounds with it. I always have to look at it from a thin air stand point.

all right , cool , thanks alot . i'll post the pressures as soon as i get it all done............anyone else with some in-put ?
-
I would expect 1.5-2lbs from the 2.75, couple that with a Morpheus PP and you will have 3-4 more lbs of boost.

I just did the calculations on that and the blower would be spinning 50,204rpm which is still safe.
The 2.5 on the other hand will spin it in the 55,000 nieghborhood, not so safe.
-
OK ,I guess the way to go is with the 2.75" blower pulley coupled with the F-150 crank pulley because i got an e-mail from ASP today and they said their 8" crank pulley costs $200.oo and the Cobra W/P pulley costs $22.oo . Ian you said the Morpheus Power Pipe will add another 3-4 lbs of boost (wow) How is that ? Also will that pipe accept the by-pass valve (Saab style) from Steves dis-charge pipe that I bought ? And Chuck you said 50,204 rpm, is that with the F-150 crank pulley and the 2.75" blower pulley ? And at what maximum engine rpm is that ? I just don't want to destroy my Novi 1000 cause I have NO warranty !
-
Is the cobra water pump pulley required/advised for a smaller crank pulley? Say 7.5"?
-
the largest crank pulley you can use with the stock 5.0(non-cobra)W/P pulley is the F-150 pulley
-
the blower speed calculation was with the F150 crank pulley, 2.75 blower pulley at 6000 rpm.
-
Frank,
Ian was trying to say that you would get an increase of about 3.5-4 pounds of boost with the 2.75 and the power pipe.
-
Doesn't that blower pulley have a problem with belt slip?
