What problems are you having?
By "that didn't work" what exactly do ya mean??? We need a bit more info, to be able to aide you.
it had zero acceleration, I put it back to stock settings, near 0. It runs now, but I think I may dyno tune the car.
I think your turning the distributer the wrong way.
It should be at 10* advanced or negative 10.
you should be lining it up with the numbers on the right side of the zero. There are numbers on both sides of it, you must be over retarding the timing.
You should have much more power at 10 than zero degrees.
there are little notches at the bottom of the distributor and the base that you turn it on. These were marked at the factory at 10* when you line them up. It's not exact but should get you close.
i have mine set at 15.......i know don't say it, but it runs like a sunn-of-a-beach.....W/ Holley aluminum race heads & X cam
Frank, 15 degrees???

You may very well be seeing it in your future, If I recall correctly mine was about 12-13 degrees initial with my BTM pulling 1 degree per pound of boost (7 total)
OUCH.........That hurts
I run 10 initial, but I have a custom chip.
