ouch. i wonder how that happened? i haven't had one welded but i have had several friend who have had it done and it worked okay for them. just make sure that it is done correctly by a reputable welding shop. ken
Ouch! Who was the last one to take that bellhousing off or put it back on? I'd ask that guy what happened to the trans, short of that I couldn't tell you how that would happen. I know people that have had welding work done on their transmissions and there are no problems as long as it is done right. Just yank it out and get it welded up and you should be all set.
Thanks.
My shop of choice asures me they do good aluminum welding.
It broke during street driving. My car has been coming apart in the middle for a couple weeks and I think the imbalance did it in.
The bell comes off today. Hopefully my clutch and wheel are OK.
They cost me a few $$$ in December (Spec stage 3 and Spec aluminum wheel)
it's at the welder now.
It will cost me $100
The bearing retainer got it too:(

Well, better that you know about it and are taking care of it. That would have haunted you down the road if it would have gone un addressed for too long.
