impeller rubbing?
Question:
I have a new-in-box 1st gen 1000 series here, had it out of the box to scope it out some. I notice when i turn the pulley by hand, the impeller ever so lightly, just barely, touches/scrapes the housing/inlet. Is this something that is normal/typical and goes away during the first minutes of startup, or does it need to get looked at by Paxton? Was thinking maybe this is only when turning by hand, & when it is turning at engine speed the helical gearing pushes the impeller out just a C-hair from the housing...
maybe a poll indicating how many units did this when new?

I would call up Paxton to get the official word, once the blower is working and is heated up the impeller will expand. How close the impeller rides away from the housing is pretty much the key to efficiency with centrifugal blowers. The larger the gap, the more air/boost bleeds off, so obviously they try to keep the gap tolerances as small as possible for highest efficiency. Either way you need to call them to find out what the deal is.
