from stick to auto?

I was wondering if i was to change out my tremic to an auto with a good stall converter would my car be faster or slower i figure i can not shift as fast as a auto.....and i think the auto would hold the rpms up so the boost would stay up........for thoes who dont know i am running 11.19@125.8 with a tremic tko....anybody do this?

You should be in the 10s mike especially if you get an auto with a trans brake in it.

Yea I would think 10.50s with a good converter.

You should be faster and more consistent too.

I changed from a stick to an AOD and Novi357 did the same thing. I did it because I was worried about the strength of the Tremec. It turned out for the better because the car is way more consistant and it shocks people when I tell them I have an AOD.

5 speed guys won't even race me anymore and all they do is make excuses about why they can't reach their cars potential. It is funny how the AOD went from a slushbox to being so feared :)

I'm gonna order my converter this week. i'm looking for about 3000 on the footbrake. I'm sure i can run tens with my new cage and two step. I'm planning on a t--brake about mid summer before corral day.

Another one going to a C-4 here, have all my old T-5 stuff sold except for the tranny itself. Still trying to figure out which C-4 will get me by most economically at this point....

Next question is AOD or c4? ...and what exacly do i have to change? besides flywheel...torq converter... shifter.. xmission?

Well Mike for me it was a no brainer. It's a weekend car-not concerned about gas mileage-wanted maximum performance. The flame war may begin on that last comment btw. you'll need to modify the cross member which is not a big deal at all.if you have long tubes you either need aod headers or a small bell. FYI Even if you have a small bell -w- 5 speed headers is a real tight fit but i ran it all last year.

Usually if you do a lot of street/highway driving and occasional racing you want an AOD. If you are more focused on racing and the track and don't care about gas mileage or highway driving, then go with a c4.

you'll have to change the yoke on the driveshaft, an oil cooler. decide on a lock up or non lock up converter. art carr builds some awesome aod's and will match the converter. I went with a tko 6months ago. should have gotten the aod.

Not to contradict you Slow91 but, I live where Art Carr is and the word from the local racers is not to buy anything from them if you want it to last for more that a few passes. This led me to search pretty extensively on the Corral and I have come across countless others that had nothing but trouble out of their Art Carr pieces. Mr. Art Carr no longer owns this operation here and now is out in CA building trans under a different company name, from what I understand the operation here went to crap after he sold it.
