blew head gasket tonight I have a few questions

It was very cool and a little foggy on my way back to work from my lunch break. I spun it up to 6000 in third on my test straight away let off and slowed down to get ready for my turn as I started to accel at a normal speed I could tell my car was missing pretty badly. I checked it out when I got to work and found the gasket was blown between cyl#7 and #8. I am running the felpro 10112 Gaskets. I had them in there before I installed the vortech. Doing some research I am hearing they are not the best for use with a supercharger. any thought on this? I am thinking about using the B51 ford gaskets this time around? If I have to mill the heads I will use the felpro 33 somthing ones. I have the timming locked in at 30 right now and am using the BTM to pull it back to 20 deg. at 12 PSI of boost. does anybody think that could be part of the problem? I currently am running 30# injector with a #6 disc in the FMU I didn't hear any pinging and the car has been running great. Any input would be apreciated. thanks Mike

What is your combo? Have you had it dyno'd? The timing sounds pretty reasonable to me as long as the BTM is doing it's job. Are you sure the 30lb injectors and the FMU are enough?

the 1011-2's arent that great with dealing with boost, but you gotta remember any HG can be blown with a bad tune. the 9333, 8548 and the B51 are great gaskets with boost. im using the B51 myself and im very happy with it as compared to the 1011-2's wich worked great for me when i was 10psi or under, but when i went up to 15psi 1011-2's just wouldnt hold up, even with a rich A/F

Thanks I ordered the B51 Kit from Summit Racing today. As for the Dyno tune there isn't any in my area but I am considering the road trip. I didn't here any pinging noise at the time and it was very cool.

I went the 1011-2 and B51 route. Then I bit the bullet and got a set of cometic. We will see how this season goes. If you can't get the car to a dyno, get an Inovative wide band. Otherwise you have no idea where you A/F is.
