Most HP, Fastest ET with YSi?
O.K guys. What is the most HP/TQ that has been made with a new YSi? What was the combination? What is the best ET/MPH? With what combo?
I made 645hp/696tq on a 302 with 27 psi air-to-water IC (27/77 cog) (6800rpm engine)through a powerglide. The AF was 12.0 to 12.5 (lean)The peak tq was before or right at 4000rpm. Timing was only 17 and air charge temp was 65. I was still running a Mass Air Meter ( which was not cal for the big blower ) with a PMS and injectors that were toooooooooooo small. I am anticipating making more with the same combo but now with a FAST seq and 96's.
Then i am going to put in the new 345, new heads, new cam and try it again.
Let's hear them!
What type of torque curve with YSi
Those of you with the YSi now, what did you have before. I had an S- trim, before the YSi, and i had a lot more low end torque. 150-200 ftlbs at 3500 RPM and under. After 4500RPM the YSi is ahead. The YSI ended up with about 100 more ft lbs and 130 more rwhp at 6,000 rpm.
560rwtq/631rwhp -- YSI 460rwtq/501rwhp --S-trim
8"/3"pulleys 6200 RPM shift 6.87"/2.95"pulleys 6,000 RPM shift
So far my preliminary runs have showed no improvement in the 1/8 mile time, increase mph only, but the mph in the 1/4 went up 4 mph and et down a little more than a tenth so far. Also switched my 26X10 slick for Hoosier QTP 27x11.5. That may have a little to do with the lower increase et, but not much. No traction issue. Awesome tires.
But with all that extra power times should have gone down a little more
Looks like the lack of low end torque is hurting.
I will be switching my 3 inch sc pulley to a RR 2.7. the one day on the street it seemed to make a big difference.
I will retune and see what happens
Any input. Basically are you seeing loss of low end torque like me or what.
