MAF Placement- Intake Routing??

OK, my '95 Ranger 5.0 is getting a V1a.:obscene:

The kit is for a pre '94 5.0 Mustang, but because of the Ranger having a frame and a much smaller engine compartment, there are quite a few modifications and custom parts that need to be designed and built to make this a reality.

This question deals with the intake assembly and the position of the MAF.

How important, if at all, is the length of tubing BEFORE the MAF inlet? This is a ProM 80MM MAF. I've got a custom steel elbow making the turn from the super inlet and that has the inlet pointing forward. Then, the MAF and another 90 going into the fender well. The 90* turns are immediately before and after the MAF with only enough strait tubing to allow a rubber coupling.

Am I going to have tuning issues?

Some MAFs come with the filter mounted directly on the MAF, but I'd rather route the inlet into the fender well to take advantage of the cooler air.
