You lost me Steve.....
LOL I was requesting a quick overview as to what you boys are trying to accomplish as I was too lazy to read.:)
i used the 94 gt bracket, and put it down in the old swaybar location. fits well for the time being until i can get my bracket fabbed up.
steve, read up. no time for laziness
Neil, why not use a standard rotation water pump and skip all those other shinannigans?
Cause it's more fun this way Steve and it takes 2x's as long to figure it out. I was determined cause I wanted that nice shiny piece of billet alum under my hood, lol.
standard rotation would mean i would need a ribbed wp pulley right? small like the cobra pulley....what would the belt routing be like with that? Single belt systems are so fun..
I think I might run the lincoln Alt setup. It mounts on the drivers side and since The A/c And the P/S is gone the only things i run are the water pump and the Alt. that way i could get rid of the smog elim and the tenisioner all together. The lincoln setup adjusts the alt up and down for tension.
That sounds interesting. Would like to see how that works out...
whatever i'm gonna do i'm gonna do this week so i'll post some pics. Whatever it turns out to be i can guarantee it will be custom!
sounds cool. Let us know how ya make out...
ok boys! this will work.........I got this off of a 88 lincoln town car with the truck looking backwards efi. There may be more years of these but mine came off of an 88. It has two supports to the water pump, one of which will need a shim where the old powersteering bracket was between the alt bracket and the water pump. The second is a brace that goes to the intake bolt farthest forward, and third will be a theaded rod for my application....LOL But this will eliminate all those darn eliminator for those of us that take the a/c off and the power steering off. BUT----If you wish to keep your power steering you can get the whole driver side assembly. I think this is fabulous because this is something the New and Old Novi guys can use.
Shew
Brent
will have pics asap
what did they charge you for the assembly?
i knew the people at the yard so it was a gimme.:D But i flipped them 10 bucks just to keep on the good side. I really think this will work nice
PICS PICS PICS
no just run the belt ribs over the water pump. It will work no prob.Quote:

Regatta! Please post pics soon. This could be my ticket to make this thing work. we are trying to do the same thing as far as the 3 acc. only thing is having to extend the harness
LX-convt. Here is how it's run on my car
tell me what you think! it's not finished but you get the idea.
again
DAMN revised Novi owners. I thought you had the old style... Lets see the alt. in there with the belt on....
ok I looked at the belt set-up and you guys will need a standard rotaion wp. It's gonna want to spin the opposite direction and I've tried it before with just running the pump backwards and it added 20-25 degrees to the coolant temp. Regatta you are a lifesaver. I will get that stuff tomorrow at the junkyard and then I just need to worry about the oil pan tap and the fan for clearance.
What do you guys think of using the oil return line from the blower. Just having it drain to the nipple on the oil filler neck instead of the pan?
neil! thats the beauty of this! it dosen't matter because it's still in the standard accesory train. New or old this elimainates the eliminators!!! if i had the old 1k setup this would still work...the only thing i need is a piece of thread-all and a spacer(which i will disclose the proper size when i me it tonite) for the bottom of the alt. but if you want to retain you P/S then get the bracket off the lincoln and your set. The stock rotation of the water pump is retained. For us that want all that crap off of there this is the ticket IMO!
Well the swap didn't go as good as planned and i don;t know why they would've been different. But i did make it fit. i had to slot some holes make spacers, and add washers of course. Very Simple.

and 4, this is pretty custom but not at all difficult.
HOLY DIALUP BATMAN! my problem with that setup is belt routing with the single drive novi. while it looks good, i would have to actually have the bracket to try it out on. also, did you reenforce the bracket where the alternator was so it won't flex?
Call ASP and see if they have a grooved waterpump pulley with the correct spacing and dia to work with your 8" crank and go down and buy a standard rotation water pump. I know it will work neil and you won't find a cleaner install than that.
neil-did you notice the steel rod that goes from the top of the bracket to the intake?
45 minutes later I get to see your handiwork (damn dial-up). Looks good, is the tensioner on the Novi still useful or do you find that most of the tensioning is adjusted at the alt. now?
I didn't know that Harold had stickers, Ian you need some cool looking stickers like his, lol.
Well i did away with the Ford spring tensioner and it is done by the lincoln bracket. The Novi tensior is an eight rib. Yeah I'm one of those New 1K guys. But i thought that this could help the old 1k with a little more belt wrap with the belt going from the blower to the crank, and the fact that this would get rid of the ford tensioner and you'd have a full manual adjustment on how tight you wanted the belt. As far as the sticker goes thats a little shameless advertising for harold. He really helped me out alot.
Neil---I hadn't really checked it out but it's the new 1/2" bracket so i think it will be fine. I'll go give it a shake.
Brent I like it!! The idea of having dual belt tensioner is sweet. That way you could take a bit of stress off of the finely designed Novi 1k tensioner
I have that set-up and will post pics sunday night. Regatta, any heads up on the grinding and spacers would be great. Thanks in advance
kool---i had to slot the driver's side bolt of the bracket. I'll measure the bolt that goes in the head and let you know if you like. I used 5 flat washer, as in the pics.
oh btw. does the stock alternator harness reach over to the driver side?
that is where it originates.
Neil---the blower is rock solid with out the alt and the smog elim.
kool---all you have to do is pull the harness out of the loom. I think it originates on the drivers side.
All pictures in this post don't work they are all distorted?????
Yes sorry happened in the merge.
