Who sells them thick brackets for t trim blowers pas side mount 87-93? Thanks Cool site!
Welcome.
We (SCH Racing) used to make the brackets.
Ian
are they still available I am interested in buying one? Thanks
Sorry no.
Ian
Not a good sign :(
Ian,
Is that a no as in you'll never offer them again or just not right now? I'm glad I got mine when I did. I've had inquiries from folks here in So California on where I bought them. I've been happy to send them to this site looking for them.
I have no immediate plans to bring the brackets back.
I cannot devote the time needed to make the improvements, the brackets and the sales. I am a one man show and life takes enough time :)
Ian
I hear ya Ian. Wish I could help ya out. Id love one myself as you may know. But there are other important things in life that come up. I guess Vortech themselves are the only other ticket to purchase this item if someone wants it bad enough. Or try to make one yourself.
Hope you have a change of heart in the near future.
Paxton should have similar brackets for the Vortech head units, or so it was reported in a recent Hot Rod mag. Although they are at least double what Ian was charging.Quote:

Vortech makes a set that look to be very close to ours. I have not seen them in person so I cannot comment on the install or quality. They are $600+ in price but may be cheaper through a Vortech dealer.
Ian
There not much cheaper thru a dealer. Its why I kept annoying ya Ian. I thought you had a nice product at a great price to sell.
I guess now Vortec since Paxton is the same company now is the only source.
Anyone wanna try a group purchase if we can get a good deal on em? I dont think Vortech really cuts there prices too much though.
Or
Ian, Is there a certain amount of people that youd need to have before you to make some?
Maybe somebody would want to take over the manufacturing and pay royalties to Ian.
If I were to have 15-20 sold 100% I would start that run. Anything less is alot of work.
Ideally dealers would be setup with a buy in and you guys would buy from them. I have never really looked into that to be honest but it would be a way to go.
Ian
I tell ya what Id be willing to help get a head count on these. You will have to give me a price on this. Ill plug this on a bunch of boards I go on.
Shotme some info, pulley rib size and if theres any additional stuff.
Ian feel free to email me ths info if youd like me to help you out.
Also a production time woudl have to be set as well so I can give people an idea.
Thanks
Tom
I will buy it also if you find enough people. Thanks
im sure i can get you the vortech brackets for alot less then $600..
you can sign me in for those brackets anytime.
PS: does anyone know the part number for those vortech brackets?
Flyin let us know. Im going to just make my own design up over the winter. There is sucha demand and I wont pay $600 for one so I'll make my own if I cant get a set for a reasonable price and then sell them myself. But if you can get a set for us or me cheap id be game for a set up. Save me some grief on working one out.
There is not a huge demand so be careful before investing your time.
Ian
I hear ya Ian. I know of 5 people just local to me interested. And I havent even tried to advertise it. Im looking to get a set up for me and help a few others out while the one batch is made.
I just hear people all the time at races and shows lookin at my buddies piece from Vortech and they all ask where can they get one till they hear the price $600+. As you may know how long have I been asking you for a set up? I have been searching all the boards I go on to find your set up possibly used and You'd be amazed on the amount of people stating they want one where the people who showed pictures of theres. But I guess your experience was different as you might of been one of the first to come out with it. I have dabled a bit with fabricating parts and know what you mean I have some time invested in past projects and realize that some are talk. The way i see it is AFM Sells that belt tensioner for almost $100 and its junk it hardly fits any application and you still have that flexible plate that Vortech supplied you. Your set up gives a incredible tension system and the added stiffening. And it looks bad azz when polished on the car.
I wish someone would make a thicker tensioner bracket. I have destroyed the two holes in mine by tightning the belt all the time with a 1/2" breaker bar and extension.
Eric you could just take yours to a machine shop and have them remake you one in a thicker metal and your set. If you dont have the sources I do. I can talk to the few shops I deal with if you have an extra piece laying around that you can send me. Id be more than happy to mail one back to ya. It might be a bit tricky as yo may have to recess the pulley hole slightly so it still hits the belt properly email me and we can talk

welll......do you see a pic of the brackets anywhere on the site?.....didnt think so...that part number came to me in an email from vortech's own Ricky Best....
swilldup thank you for the sweet reply and the part #. I obviously did not see the picture on there site as you already saw in my post. Have a nice day
I would definitely want a set of those brackets should you start another production run.
Not enough demand? Might I refer you to this thread started in August...

Ian, the demand is there but I see your point about having a life outside of this crap. :) I ask you to pay particular attention to reply #6.
Count me in, I would like one.

Heck, even buying some blueprints at this point would be sufficient. I just wanted to support the "little guy." It sucks that there isn't a way to take this show bigtime?
try designing some yourself..Quote:

about a year later, we made our first passenger side bracket but didnt have the time to continue doing them. Shortly there after, Dale from swill fabbed something up and then I saw Ian's come out..
its not real hard, they are work on the same premise...
Holy crap ! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That sure is an impressive signature:)
I use the Vortech kit and it works good. I didnt pay close to 600 for them. I have a buddy who hooked me up and sorry but thats all I can say about were I received mine from but just wanted to let everyone know that they do work.
If there is enough interests in people wanting these I can make them. Maybe Ian can get with me with what he had made and we can both make out on this. I have the time and equipment to do them, only problem is.........I am a novi guy and have no clue to what exactly you all need. So I would either need the pieces from a previous design or someone needs to give me there charger and brackets for me to gage off of.
If someone wants to make a list of real people that would want them and WILLING to pay let me know. I know I can come in way under the 600 mark if all it is a secondary plate, added pulley, spacers, and misc hardware. But I am not going to set-up to just make 5 of them. As Ian said it has to be worth the while.

How many people you need? There was a good amount of people interested.
And what ball park are you looking at you think so we can start getting people who may be interested.
I need dimensions, specific hardware, and most of all a clue to what exactly I am making. I have to figure material costs, machine time, my labor. I am not picking on you tstang, but it is a little more invovled than people may think. It has to be worth my time and effort to do them. I need to do a set 1st to test to make sure that it is correct and figure out total costs before I can give an exact dollor amount to anyone Right now I am trying to gage interest and make sure people are dead serious before I make an investment out of my pocket and time. Give you guys an example, I took on a side project of making 3 dry sump oil pans for a dude that runs scca with a nissan. Since 10-29 I have had only 4 days off and that was to take a short vacation. From this past friday to monday I put in 45 hours to get this stuff done, and I am a regular mon thru friday, 40 hr type. I am getting 2500 a pop for these and a regular shop would not even touch them for that. Again I am not trying to be rude but I have to make sure its going to be worth it for me to do. ThanksQuote:

There is not enough demand out there. Vortech has now stepped up and has mass produced these. Yes the cost is higher but they are out there.
I know that you may see a few users on here that want them and my friends, friends brothers dad wants one but money talks.
Since I have the CNC drawings and have invested the time and effort I would do them now, but to start up from scratch - I wouldn't.
Ian
No offense taken. I cant give you any of the diminesions you need. Nor do I have a kit that I can send to you. I know you need a actual run of a piece to figure out cost. But its kinda hard to get people interested without a ballpark #. Thats all I was asking. If this happens in the near future Id be interested.
