blower no more
my p600b took a crap on me today, so im going to run it on motor until I figure out what I want to do. my question is does anyone know how big of caps I would put on my oil line, do not want to remove them completly and help would be great. thanks anthony

What happened to it?! Didn't you just get it tuned?
-
the blower just stoped dead in its tracks, made a real loud high pitch sound, so I shut the car off and it would not start back up, so me and afriend tryed spinning the motor and it would not spin, so I took the belt off and tryed to spin the blower would not move, donnie told me he thinks its the transmission in the blower.
-
It would have to be... the gears seized up inside or the bearings did, one or the other. The high pitched squeal was more than likely the belt slipping over the pulley after it stopped moving.
-
ya i never thought of that, sending it to procharger to get checked out, donnie told me to buy a t trim so im going to think about that.
-
Weren't you tossing around a D1 or F1 before? Did you weigh all of your different blower options out? I would do that before jumping right into something else like that. T-Trim would fit your car nicely, but a nice D or F series would too... something to toss around.
-
I asked donnie what he thought was better d1or t trim and he told me to use the t trim because of the brackets, but he liked the d1 better.
-
What about the brackets are better? I know that the T-Trim bracketry does not flex much, but I wouldn't see the ATI renegade (no A/C, no power steering) brackets being worse. The renegade brackets to my understanding are great and there is vertually no flex at all if any.
Is there a big price difference? Would you be able to use anything that you have now with the D series? I would immagine you would.
-
Im working on that a guy on here is doing that right now, but I still want power steering.
-
Yup... you can do the power steering re-location kit.
-
were do you get the power steering relocation bracket from, and with the renegade do you get the intercooler .
-
Call up ATI. They have the relocation kits. They will be able to give you more speciffic details on their kits as to what comes with what.
-
My blower just seized up today! WTF! I really hope ATI plans to settle this with me somehow, being that this blower isn't a year old yet! I think I'm going Vortech after this crap!
-
Wow, that's no good... what blower do you have again?
-
You are still under warranty, so no worries. Even if you did not get the extended 3 year warranty, you still have the standard 1 year warranty, don't worry about it, they are good about taking care of their customers.
-
Well, I have officially had the blower 14 months according to them and the warranty dies at 12 months... :(
They just said to send it in for an estimate of repairs and they would give me a price before they fixed it. So I figured me being a mechanic/engineer what can be so complicated about this thing? I tore it apart and found the back bearing (behind) the impeller was totally destroyed and luckily I shut the car down in time to not hurt anything else. It just barely bumped the billet impeller and didn't appear to hurt a thing that I can see. So I am doing the full rebuild myself. I figure theres about $100 worth of bearings in this thing and I have access to all the equipment needed.. So hopefully its not too bad. BTW- its a good ol' P600B :)
-
Well, that's a bummer that they aren't willing to help you out since it was only 2 months out of warranty, but I guess that is what warranty is all about. That's cool that you took it appart and found out what is wrong and it's not that bad. Hopefully you can find these bearings and parts and not have to order them from ATI because I don't know how they would be about sending that kind of part to you to repair... they might not do it.
-
hopefully thaqt all thats wrong with my blower.
-
Yea, I called ATI and they wont send any parts for repair! They are really stingy about sending you anything for that matter.
The good news is I found the bearings through our bearing supplier here at work, bad news is they are a special "ceramic" bearing and are $145 a piece at my cost!!!
I can now see what ATI gets a minimum of $600 for bearing/seal replacement...
-
Wow... so what are you going to do for it? Are you just going to eat it and send it back, or are you going to do it on your own?
-
Yes, I am in the process of finding the BEST bearings available now and I am going to go through with it myself. Its really a very simple thing and anyone with a press, and some mechanical skills can rebuild one of these things. I would suggest any of you guys to try and rebuild/service your own blowers. It's really not as hard as ATI makes you think.
-
I'm sure it is easy, it isn't like it's a mechanical mystery as to how they work, just hope that their oil will work well with your new bearings. Keep us posted as to how it goes, how much you payed, and so on.
-
Well, their oil isn't a concern to me, because I have the P600 which is oiled via the engine oil. I can tell you that ATI uses a VERY high quality bearing in their blowers and I am stumped as to why mine failed so early. It was properly lubricated, as the case was full of oil when I took it apart, and I use nothing but Mobil 1. I will be sure to let you guys know the outcome.
