IS there a Vortech air to water aftercooler that could be made to work on a Novi 1K from like an S trim or something?
Now that I am making more than enough boost;) I could stand to lose a couple PSI for cooler denser boost.:)
Any ideas appreciated.

hmmm, steve i don't know why not........the volute rotates of course and thats all thats needed i think..........i have a friend here who has an SQ with an aftercooler and he runs very agressive timing with 14lbs of boost. wouldn't that be nice? too bad you can't just mock one up to see if it will fit......i wanna rig one myself......
why not just do water/alchy injection if you want cooler boost?
[coughs] chemical cooling is the best  [/coughs]
Neil I want something that is there all the time. I don't like the idea of putting parts on that can run out or fail like BTMs and water sprayers. Next you have a hurt motor.
LOL Chris not in a million years.:)
I need to go on a hunt for a picture of that setup installed on a fox.
Hey Goliath, what would ya think about about a Novi 1000 and let's say... a 100 shot?? :D
May have to try it after I get my motor built....
5150 LX I say  :D
It can be done!
dart 331 = :santa:
Yeah I Hear ya. The less variables, the better off you are. Good luck with this , and let us know how you make out.
Does Paxton offer a intercooler for the 1k I can use?
not at the moment they don't. We are still waiting to see what Steve comes up with.
i would like to know also. hot blower air + 95* weather + a/c on creates enough heat under my hood to warm a small icelandic village. my temp gauge becomes touchy at times...
the s trim to me looks like it would work too, but im not 100%
hey steve did you ever dig anything up on this>? This might turn into a winter project for me.
Brent I have not been able to.:( Money has been real tight this summer so I have had to spend it in ways just to keep the car running. I hope you get a chance to mess with this project as I'm 110% sure it can be made to work quite easily.:)
Back in '96 during the J.R. Granatelli days, Paxton developed a prototype aftercooler style kit for the Novi 2000 and debuted it at SEMA. Suffice to say for reason's unknown, it never saw production. Here's a copy of the article and pics as it appeared it the March 1997 SUPER FORD.

Maybe JR took it with him when he left.

I had contacted Jack @ MM about this to see if he had done/heard of it done. he said he was "pretty" sure it could be done. But after he emailed me the pic of it installed on a S trim, if we rotated the discharge back it would stick up through the hood. I would need to have one to see if it was even feasable. It would seem like you would have to modify both sides of the aftercooler to get it to work properly.
I can tell ya for a fact the Novi will bang your hood if it's not turned all the way. Mine came from the factory just a little too far towards the driver side and now I have a nice little dent that everyone asks about.
At any rate, I was actually thinking about running an intercooler (not charge cooler) before the blower. Seems like the plumbing wouldn't be too bad since I already have a Morpheus Powerpipe. Just run an intercooler in front of the radiator, a pipe conecting the MAF/powerpipe, some pipe to the driver side and pop my K&N in the driver wheel well.
Not sure what kind of enhancement it would give but that's what intercoolers were made for. Besides, it beats the hell out of re-welding a chargecooler.
Last but not least, doesn't Vortech make an "igloo" intake/chargecooler? Might be the best bet, just scratch off the Vortech logo and scribble in Paxton. ;)
ahh, the endless quest for more power.....makes ya wanna do crazy things don't it?
