Supercharger Help

Little disappointed with my dyno results from yesterday. Only showed 312HP with 396TQ pounds. HP peaked at 4700RPM can't figure out why. Thought my combination would yield a little around 350-375 around the 5500RPM range. Looks like I need more boost. Which leads me to my question. How much boost can I get out of this SN or would I just be better of getting a ProCharger. Little conserned about the poor performance with my unit and need to know if it is really worth paying a grand for the rebuild with oil cooler and larger impeller from paradise and if the reliability of these units is really as bad I read about all over the internet. Looking for a little feed back from actual owners. What can I do to get more BOOST?

1st thing give us your engine combination and scan your dyno sheet so we can see the information and also list your PSI at the intake if you have it.
We will go forward after we have more information.

383 CID 9.5 compression running SDPC vortec TPI manifold vortec heads stock plennum and runners, ZZ4 cam edelbrock headers and exhaust 5PSI at the manifold. Alcohol injection with 100PSI pump running 50/50 alcohol and water. Don't have a scanner so I can't scan the dyno sheets but I think I know what your getting at. My chip needs some work. I had someone do the initial chip for the larger injectors and so forth. But I discovered yesterday I was running an AFR of 11 from about 3700RPM on up to rich and a AFR of 16 below 3700 so i turned up the fuel pressure from 44 to 48. Couldn't get much time in on the dyno guy was to busy with other projects in his shop. So i decided I'm going to buy a chip burner and a wide band O2 monitor and learn how to do it myself. If you have recommendations I'm open for suggestions on which programs and burners to buy. Still think that once I get the chip dialed it won't make that much of an improvement but then again I could be very wrong. The one thing that really puzzles me is the 4700RPM peak horsepower seems like it should be way higher like 5500 to 6000. I am very new to the fuel injection world. Purchased the car bone stock 5 months ago and have rebuilt most of the car since then and could use all the advise.

What is your total timing at WOT.

Without having any idea about your timing and using boost is not very wise, also using a water/meth cooling unit will cost you power without knowing your WOT timing curve.

It looks like you have some bugs to get worked out before you will really get the most out of your setup. I know this is pointing out the obvious, but also the SN93 is too small for a 383ci motor IMO.

Yah your right. I have purposely avoided driving the car untill I could get it to the dyno and see how it is running. I know this much that my initial timing is set at the factory 10 degrees advanced and that when the guy who burned the chip did it, I'm guessing that he probably just left the stock timing curve or modified it for what he thought it needed to be for a supercharged appolication. Interesting that you brought up the loss of power with the alcohol because when it kicks in the car feels like it's bogging down, you definately notice it. Ordered my prom burner today now I'm in the process of hunting down a wide band O2 monitor so I can see the AFR's for myself and will be downloading software for such. Also checked into the VR4 setup and think this is the way I will go once I get the chip figured out. Do you think I should keep the alcohol or dich it?

To get use of a Water/Meth Injection you need to be running at least 10psi+.
A VR4 will get you in the 12psi range and you then will have enough CFM to really give that car a kick. If you remove the Meth Injection I am sure you will pickup at least 40 rwhp. Using my software dyno with what I know about your car I seen 410 rwhp without the supercharger and 5psi at 750cfm I show 489rwhp. This software has always been within 5% on my builds.

Those are very stout numbers. so for now I'll remove the meth injection, I'm sure the 42 pound injectors I'm running will supply plenty of fuel. I still am going to leave the car in the garage for now untill I get the software and PCM interface cable for the car so I can get a good look at where I stand with timing and a number of other things. One question I have is where do you think my timing should be at WOT? You seem to have a lot of experience with fuel injection. So I imagine you do the programing yourself. Who's software would you recommend. More or less who's do you think would be more user friendly for a beginner? By the way thanks for all your input.

I run a Ford and it has been years since I researched Chevy programmers. If you can list the web sites I can at least see if they have what you need for tuning at a bargain price. I was looking around to see what the factory timing at WOT is. Are your pistons Forged or Hyper. If forged you can usually get away with 1 degree pulled for every 1psi at 92 octane. Hyper you need to remove 1.5 degrees for every 1psi. If nothing else post a tuning question under the Novi 2000 area and maybe you can get someone in the Chevy realm since the Ball Drive kit was rare.

The HPTuner product is like some of the unit I have used in the past and they are very complete and allow alot of fuel and ignition curve maps. What ever product you pick just make sure it has support for a MAP sensor so that it can control timing based on boost.
