I have no idea what this hacker has against us or the site. I certainly don't have any "hacker" enemies... at least, that I know of. And I don't think I've ever upset anyone on this site (or any other site) to make them want to attack SCH.
I personally believe that it's exactly as you've suggested - the challenge to disrupt the site. There is no gain for a hacker to take down a site the way SCH has been taken down the last while. Even if a hacker managed to download member information, there's nothing private held in anyone's profile apart from an email address.
As you can see, the site is now back online, but I haven't made any formal announcements via facebook or twitter yet. I am going to check for security vulnerabilities before making a formal announcement.
