Going to try new pulley setup.

On all of my previous runs I was using a 4.5" blower pulley and shifting at 6800 RPM, which would put the blower RPM at 53,000
max (assuming no slippage). I just installed a 4" Reichard Racing pulley and plan on reducing shift RPM to 6200 which would
turn the blower to it's theoretical max RPM also.

My plan is to try to get more HP throughout the RPM range by having more boost at lower RPM and again in theory having the
same airflow at 6200 that I did before at 6800.

Anyone ever tried this type of pulley swap and shift RPM change on their combo? What were the results?

The first thing I would have to say is your safe for max 56,000 which I spun mine,I was told this by larry at ASSC.

As much as I like my Hogan intake if I were you I would consider trying the stock upper for your intake as the hogan really is meant for high rpm .I spin my mtr 8400 rpm so I'm ok but your power band is alot lower and I think by switching will make a big diff and give you alot more torque and hp in the lower rpmsgiving you what your looking for plus you should be able to keep some of that rpm ..............just my 2 cents

I agree with your comments. Originally I was going to go solid roller and planned on spinning a lot higher so I picked the Hogan. At some point I may try something else.

Hey if your interested I have a street solid roller that was custom made for me by Cam Motion and I never used it .It was done on a sandy core so you can use the stock dist gear and it was made for my 331 w/ the D2R specs are

582/585 254/262 114 and the lash is .010 so it is streetable and was designed for high 8's

Something to think about if your looking to stay streetable ,I would sell it for $200 I paid $300 like I said it's new

I will keep that in mind once I'm done with seeing how these new changes turn out. Why didn't you use it? Can you post the cam card so I can take a look at the valve timing events? Thanks

Well I have played the pulley game and it sure does affect how the power comes in. I too am running the charger at it's max recommended speed (53k) and when I went to a smaller pulley and dropped the shift, all it really did was make the charger hit harder. In my car you see boost on the guage sooner and it is a handfull to drive this way. I have not been to the track this way yet.
