    cogged belts

    Hi!

I have just successfully trashed my first cogged belt. I went with ASP pulleys for my 73/28 setup and after installation and tightening, I could not get the slack out of the loose side of the belt. It lasted all of a week; finally giving out this morning on the way to work during a little back road test & tune.

I am waiting for a 75mm crank pulley to hopefully fix the "one size fits all" belt problem I'm having. In the meantime, who runs cogs here, what manufacturer and what belt type? I'm trying to get a hold of Gates directly to ask about their Powergrip GT2 cogged belt. I have read that HTD belts don't have a long lifespan and the Polychain system requires all new (expensive) cog pullies also.

    Shame on us Vortech owners...

I had to go to NOVIPOWER to get the inside dirt :D

Turns out a Gates T-124 cogged timing belt is an almost exact replacement for the 1392 belt. It's actually about 1/2" shorter, which suits me fine because I can get more tension on it.

Hat's off to our "sister" site NOVIPOWER for having this inside info!
