Adding a Novi 1000 to stock 90 GT?

Okay guys, just when I get everything figured out and I'm about to order all my go fast goodies, life threw me a curve ball...

Tranny went out! So, instead of a new top end (maf, tb, intake, heads), I'm getting a new tranny for Christmas.

My question is, do you think it's a good idea to bolt up the Novi 1000 on my nearly stock 130K engine (with exhaust, 255 lph fuel pump, msd ignition) for a some power until I get my new motor?

Performance won't be stellar with the stock maf, tb and manifold, but it should still be fun until my funds recover from the new tranny, right?

Anyone else running nearly stock with this blower?

    Thanks,
    Jermey

I put my Novi1k on my 89GT when it had a 152k miles on the stock long block and it's still running very hard. See sig for times. I figure I'm probably making just over 300RWHP with this setup to get those times at my cars weight.

    Nice ET's!

Looks like I'll be adding the blower 1st and then changing up the rest of the top end as money comes in.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy,

There are allot of users with stock engines running the 1K. It is a great entry level blower.

I do suggest a comperession test, and a complete tune up before you install it. If your car is starting to fade now, it will be much worse when the blower is installed.

    Ian,

Thanks for the response. The car feels strong now, but it is still "new" to me, so I'll be sure the motor is up to the task before the blower goes on.

After all, the stock motor needs to last until I can get a new one!

    Thanks,

Just as a reference. I actually ran my Novi 2000 with a completely stock engine. Stock everything. It made 10 psi and it was actually pretty quick. I would guess low 12's in my coupe.

I just put a novi2k on my stock 130k mile long block, with just a bigger mas air meter and injectors, with exhaust. Haven't actually started the thing yet, but I'll let you know if things start going wrong.

Hey man!! I run a stock tb, intake, heads, and cam!!! Can'e comment on performance because it's winter and we got 5 inches of snow last night.... But come spring time, it'll go. believe me, it'll go.

    THANKS GUYS!

I can't wait to get the blower and bolt it up!

Winter is coming here in Iowa too, so I've got a few months to work everything out!

Whistler...based on your sig. my setup will be similar to yours.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that is/has bolted the blower on first and then upgraded the rest of the engine.

Mine, too, is a 1990 motor, about 80,000 miles on it, totally stock, except no smog pump and with long-tube headers. It runs great, very quick; of course, the car only weighs 2100#.
