    Has Anyone Removed the Air Restrictor on their Novi 2000?

    I received my kit and noticed the air restrictor in the inlet tube of my Novi 2000. I have spoken to many people who have removed this, most see an increase up to 10-11# of boost. I called Paxton, they told me on the stock 8.5# pulley I should see 12-14# of boost without the restrictor, I think this would be on a Cobra at like 7000 rpm, but I have heard some people with GT's reporting 12# and more without the restrictor. My most reliable source had a bone stock 2000 GT (5-speed), he removed the restrictor and says he sees 10#, he dyno'd the car on Paxton's overly conservative (safe, but very rich) tune and pushed 353rwhp and 344 rwtq. He then added catted x-pipe and Steeda cat-back and dyno'd 380rwhp, restrictor removed on Paxton's chip with the supplied 30# injectors even and stock maf. I could sure use some OPINIONS, ADVICE, and especially EXPERIENCE with this. I will be installing the blower the week of 12/15 when i have a an extra car to go up and back to work when I ship my EEC to Paxton. *** Last, but not least, Has anyone else noticed all the discrepancies on what power this kit makes between Paxton's site and all the supercharger vendors sites - For example, flywheel #s - Paxton says 360hp and 370tq, Superchargersonline.com 452hp 459 tq and 360rwhp and 400 rwtq, superchargers4less 452hp 449 tq. More confusing, Paxton rates the Novi 1000 at 360hp and 390tq, very confusing. Check out their #s for all the different years also. Thanks all, Howard.

    I just posted about the same question on this board. I see on average10 psi stock with a crappy e-303 cam! Now as far as other people removing it, some say do some say don't. In my opinion it would work. Reason being where else do you see it in the supercharged world?

    like i said in my post, i have seen the dynograph from this guys car, looked like no problems, his a/f ratio from 4200-5500 was well under 10 (too rich), I'll bet if he dyno-tuned it with a very safe tune going up to 10.5:1 or 11:1 he would push well over 400 rwhp with hardly any mods. As far as a safe tune I just read a post where a guy said "there is no such thing as a safe tune, only a safer tune." *** the e-303 is a great cam, especially for not being a blower cam. I had an 88 gt with a powerdyne 9# blower, edelbrock alum heads, cobra manifold, 30# injectors, bbk shorties, o/r h-pipe, flowmaster cat-back, c&l maf, 65mm tb, and e-303cam, with drag radials, t-5, and my lousy driving it ran a 12.3 at 116.8 with a 2.0 60ft. *** I'm sure I'll remove it, free boost is free boost, maybe at the expense of a short-block, but that just opens things up for MORE BOOST! thanks for the response, howard
