Should I go with a Novi and if so, which one?

    Hello everyone,

I'm sure everyone is ready to shoot someone such as myself, asking if they should buy a Novi and what is the best compressor to purchase... Basically, I am having the most difficult time trying to figure out which blower to go with. I have a mostly stock (fresh) motor and am looking to get into the supercharger realm with a quality blower and as little headaches as possible. Any suggestions or recommendations?

    Thanks...

    - Mark

    novi 1000

I have the novi 1000 and the install is fairly painless, the price is definetly right, and the quality is great. There are some hangups on the install but nothing you can't handle if you have a good working knowledge.
89 Coupe with parts stacked inside of it and about 30#'s of dust on it with no end in sight. :weird:

    Although I am collecting parts for a 12.5:1 393 :D

Another vote for the 1000, great entry level blower. Hoping to get well into the 10's if I can ever get my car back together.

If you have the money get the Novi 2000 just cause it flows huge CFM, starts you off at 8lbs but can be upgraded to a max of 27lbs.

Novi 1000 is a great deal, I went with this one, it starts you off at 6lbs but can be upgraded to a max of 15lbs with a few extras.

Good to hear! I was originally looking at an ATI, but not sure I will go that route as I'm not comfortable knowing that people are having belt alignment issues and the fear that the head unit seals may still leak. Is the Novi 1k the only blower which uses a single serp. belt? Does the 2K use a sep. blower belt?

They both use sperate belts for the blower now. I know the 1000 has 8 rib pulley from factory and I'm not sure if the 2000 is 8 or 10 ribbed.

Both the 1k & 2K are on separate belts now. They just recently revised the 1k kit and went with an 8-rib separate belt to drive the blower. Check out the article on the front page of the site (I think it's still there), it outlines the Paxton press release on the new 1000 kit.

Ahhhh, seperate belts is what I wanted to hear... Now my other concerns are tapping the oil pan and the by-pass valve that everyone mentions which is needed for the best idle and driveabiliyt... How much will a good bypass valve cost and how difficult are the to install? Should I also be thinking about a discharge tube upgrade with either the 1K or 2K?

    Thank you for your time!

Tapping the pan is no big deal, nothing to worry about. The bypass vavle is easy, do a search on here & you'll come up with the lastest info, someone found the Bosch unit for around $20-25, both the 2k & new1k have decent discharge tubes now.

The 2000 is the ultimate, it comes with everything already.
The 1000 has an aluminum dicharge tube so all you would need is the bypass valve.

Wow! I think I'm starting to get sold on the Novi! I didn't realize that the by-pass valve are so inexpensive... What's a good price for the 1K and 2K? Where is the best place to purchase?

Paxton/Vortech ever think about going to a sealed head unit design like the ATI?

I recommend the 2k if you can afford it.

Now the 2K comes with the by-pass valve setup already? Will a Walbro 255lph and 30lb injectors be enough to support the stock pullied boost with ported E7s, ported factory intake, and full exhaust?
