Need Recommendations for a Main Girdle

Getting ready to start my 331 build-up and will be needing a main girdle. Which brand/company works best for overall strength, fitment and of course price. Will be using stock oil pan.

P.S.- Whose got the best the best prices as well?

    Hey,

Too bad you do not have a 351, we have one for sale ;)

Anyhow the best girdle on the market today IMHO is from DSS Racing.

Here is a huge picture of the setup:
    http://www.dssracing.com/302msspt.jpg

We had one on the 383, and it worked great. They retail @ $299.99 for the girdle alone.

You can also get another setup from Hawks racing on EBAY:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1874788878

I had one of those, never installed it.

If money is not a problem, get the DSS, if it is, get the Hawks but DO NOT use the hardware that comes with the Hawks, order a set of ARP mains.

I prefer the piece offered buy Canton. It fit great and you don't have to mill the main caps.

I had a DSS piece on my stock block, this block cracked all the main webbing . I understand that for best results you should have the block align honed with the girdle installed to ensure integrity of the main journals.

I have the FMS piece. It looks ALOT like the DSS piece.

So who makes the FMS piece for them?

I use a cat, trick flow makes a good one. Make sure that when you get the block machined, they machine the main caps to accept the girdle (so it sits flush) this is the key to making anyones girdle work!
