Pics of the finshed Novi 2000 bracket

Here are a couple of pics of the 1" thick aluminum bracket I made (I did have help and can't claim all the credit). It is bolted to tabs on the frame rail I don't think it is going to be moving much. One potential problem area I see is that the belt is riding on the very front of the crank pulley. The edge of the belt is flush with the edge of the pulley. Would pulling the idler/tensioner pulleys rearward 1/8-1/4" help that, and is it really a problem? I did get the engine running, and it looked like the belt was running okay. It did sound significantly quieter now than before the engine/bracket change, so I was thinking the belt alignment may be better this time resulting in quieter belt operation.

Yes, bring in the idler pulleys closer to the motor, that should also move the belt in. What did you use to cut the aluminum plate?

I did the rough cut on a band saw and then the rest on a mill. I cleaned the surface up a little with a scotchbrite pad on a die grinder.

Looks great! As Alain mentioned just bring the idlers closer. Its questionable running the belt that close to the end and you could do some damage if the belt lets go under heavy load. Otherwise awesome setup!

Thanks for the input, I'll pull the idlers off tonight and take a little bit more material off of them to bring them in closer.

I hope you have solid motor mounts. If not, you're gonna break that bracket on the framerail or the bolt securing the bracket to it.

Yes, I do have solid motor mounts. That is why I figured I could get away with securing the bracket that way. I'm still a little worried it may shear those bolts, but I guess we'll see. Thanks.
