a guy i know is building me a 306. he is going to sell me his renegade cam and he knows a guy that has a set of 351w heads to put on it. the heads have been ported but i don't know the details about them yet, other then they are 69 model ones. what do you think i'll be doing in the 1/4 now with these things done along with everything else i have done to it now. you can visit my homepage on what i have done to it now? thanks for any input

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you are asking everyone a question that is impossible to answer. We need to know all of the following things to even begin to answer your questions
    1. Cam specs
    2. Heads-are they ported? Valve size?
    3. Type of intake
    4. How much boost
    5. Weight of car
    6. suspension type
    7.tires
Answer some of these qustions and I'm sure we can help.:)

not for sure on the cam, i know the lift is 550, not sure about the duration. the heads i know are ported and have larger valves in it, not for sure about the exact specs yet. right now i'm at 9lbs of boost. my intake is the trick flow street intake. think ill be around the 450 h.p. mark?

I'll place my .02 wager on these numbers for gross power:

    425 hp @ 6000
    393 tq @ 5000

On a chassis dyno look for @ 375 rwhp.

BTW isn't a renegade cam limited to .500" lift? (maybe the old rule was .550 and he had to pull it out for a new for '03 rule reducing this number)

    Couple of observations:
    - the iron heads are going to limit your total timing somewhat compared to a set of alloy heads. CR or not, the iron heads hold in the heat, not much you can do about it. They are a good choice for a factory head however.
    - the street TFS intake is going to have a hard time making much more than 400-425 hp or so on a 306 without some serious porting done on it. It's a bit of a bottleneck compared to the track heat intake, and not a real good match for a renegade type of cam that won't start pulling until 4k and wants to rev to 6500+ rpm. It is an excellent street intake, and if that is where you will be driving, skip the renegade cam and get something with realistic duration, say somewhere in the 212 to 218 @ .050 range. Your other choice is to keep the renegade cam and swap over to a Track Heat or other rpm-favorable intake. Not that the combo you've listed won't make power, just that you will be giving up midrange potential AND top end potential.

crystal ball is hazy I see the numbers
    12.20 @ 111 flashing in yellow :p

thanks for the input. i know he has had the same renegade cam in it for at least a couple years now. is the lower intake the same for the street and track heat? if it is i'll just try and find an upper track heat to buy.
