most boost from a Novi 1000?

I have seen 10-11 with the smallest blower pulley (i think its a 2.75) and a f150 pulley.....do i dare to make more? the 8 inch pulley that people are talking about is that a 1st gen or a 2nd gen Novi 1000.......i want 10's and i am close 2#should make it easier

    thanks

Mike if you have the 2.75" blower pulley than the 8" crank (either Novi 1000) will put you at 15#'s at least, it may put you at more since you have a smaller blower pulley, I'd check max impellar speed 1st, you may have to end up running a 7.5" blower pulley

The old 1000 has an original pulley size of 3"

The revised is more like 3.33" if I recall correctly.

This is why the old guys saw close to 15#'s while the revised guys saw ~10-11#'s with the same 8" crank pulley

the max speed of the 1000 is 55000 rpms. heres a link to ASP's website that has a calculator for you to figure how fast you're spinning it. http://www.aspracing.com/frame.htm
it is listed under Blower Cog Over/Under Drive Sets

Here's what you are lookin at Mark:

    8" Crank/2.75 @ 6200 RPM ~63849 Impellar Speed
    7.5" @ 6200 ~ 59858
    7" @ 6200 ~ 55867

    Crank Dia./Blower Dia. x RPM x Blower Ratio (3.54:1) = Impeller Speed

ok i guess what i need to know is how big my F150 pully is ? I think its 7.5...the second thing is can my acesories take the added speed?.....and will my Novi take the added speed.....looks like i may need to buy a Novi 2000 soon.....here is the bottom line....I am going fast but its the end of the season....so my bud has a 94 5.0 in good shape...he bought it for 3200.....he told me if i gave him my Novi 1000 with all the pullies and bypass and discharge AND 1600 he would trade......i was thinking of getting a Novi 2000 but there are several things to consider...price....will my stock block handle it? ( cracked one block this year).......so what would you do?...trade and get the car....maybe sell the car in the spring?...i know its a delima...just want some opinions
    thanks

    I think the F-150 is only 6.5"

I would just try to sell the 1000 outright if you want a 2000. With mods & a 2000 you would be in the block splitting territory even worse than you are now. You may want to try to up the boost on the little Novi and add a water injection or a little N2O to pull some more power outta it. I personally wouldn't bither with upgrading to the 2000 until you are ready to build a platform (block) that will hold up.

I was gunna go the bigger crank route, but I have all my accessories still and I am afriad of over spinning them.

I dont know what the rated speeds of power steering and the smog pump are but Im sure they would take a dump.

Try it if you don't mind voiding your warranty. I'm really qurious as to how much boost you'll be at. don't forget to turn the timing back and add some fuel. Race gas never hurts.
