    proper belt tensioning

can you guys give me any insight into the correct method for tensioning a 12 rib belt on D1SC with renegade brackets.? i think i am getting belt slip, but i don't want to overtighten the belt. i have read to tighten it, run it, tighten it, run it................. this seasons the belt and adds life. but how do you tell when it is tight enough????????? the only way i did it was tighten up where the belt had very little flexsion. then i watched for belt slip. it was slight, and i cranked down the tensioner a few more bolt turns and little/no slippage i can see. sorry not more helpful. thats how i did it though. got to be careful though cause i did ruin a set of bearings on a vortech before really cranking down on it (and semi clogged oil filter).
