    Need help picking Mufflers

Trying to decide on what mufflers to go with and what size. My kooks longtubes are 3 inch at the collector, I think I'm set on having dr.gas make an x pipe. But I'm thinking of running a 3.5 inch muffler but don't know which ones flow the best. I'm really after making power, not as much quieting the car down, but the open headers are ridiculously loud. I'm hoping the x-pipe will also quiet the car down.

So far I've read about spintechs, flowpaths, prochambers, bassani, hookers. Do you guys have any real world dyno comparisons? You guys making over 600 whp, what are you running?

I vote for the dynomax race magnums. The bullet ones. All the renegade guys use em.

Thanks Brandon, I'll check those out. Summit seems to sell them pretty cheap.

that's 2 votes for the dynomax race magnums. i heard them on a friends car and they sound nice but they are LOUD. i went with the dynomax stainless ovals with turndowns, they are a little quieter for the street. i have been through 4 sets of mufflers and these are by far the best flowing set i have installed.

lol, damn chris, cut right to the chase huh?

My second vote would be for borla xr1's. Had em, and loved em.

you may want to look at performancemuffler.com

I plan on trying a set of these someday.

3 votes in a row for the same thing was enough to convince me. Usually getting people on the internet to agree on something is like pulling teeth lol. So when they do, chances are its a good choice ;) At this point anything is better than open headers.

    [Goliath's pick]

    #1: Flowtech Terminator BiteME Mufflers
    #2: Borla XR-1 Sportsmans
    #3: Dynomax Race Magnums/Bullets

The Flowtech Terminator BiteME mufflers are SIMPLY THE S*!%$ !
The sound is like two mean ol' rabies infested junkyard dogs barking at each other back and forth! Have heard them on an efi and carb setup (302 efi / 289 carb) and they sound awesome! Both cars had long tubes and an H-PIPE w/full pipes to the back (2 1/2")

    I have also heard the terminators w/dumps on an efi 302 w/long tubes and h-pipe. [drool] ... [/drool] I WOULD LOVE to hear a an efi 302 w/ long tubes, X-PIPE, terminators w/ full 2 1/2" pipes to the back... ... ... ...

:D Be right back have to get a towel :D

i've been thinking of picking up a set of the warlock muffs but i haven't heard a set yet. My friend has and edelbrock cat back i'm trying to talk him out of and it sounds pretty awesome on stocker. Here in the corn belt if you go to the track with anything quieter than 2 chamber flows you can't hear it run all day! LOL Could you guys post some sound files of these when your done?

i had a set of warlocks on for about 2 months and i wasn't too crazy about them. they were heavy, the sound was less than desirable and they fell flat on their face from 5000-6000 rpm.
