Can't decide on a cat back!

Well, the new car will be here on saturday, and I'll need to do somthing to the exhaust. I believe the car already has shorties, so I'm thinking an offroad x-pipe, and then some sort of catback. I want a straight through muffler, so my choices are somewhat limited. Bassani, Borla, Magnaflow, or Edelbrock. Any opinions. I don't want to spend millions of dollars on exhaust stuff here. Bassani somewhat resonable now that they offer the bx line. Never heard the e-brocks, and I'm concerned that magnaflow puts some sort of gay looking tip on there stuff. Ideas suggestions? Shoul I just buy a mac setup, and swap out the mufflers later on? Thanks guys I just need some imput.

I'm getting the Edelbrock rpm catback from a friend. I love the way it sounds but you always need to hear it in person before you get off a bunch of money for it. I've got a 3" prochamber on the way i found on corral as well.

I'm going to stick with 2.5" as long as I can. 3" is almost to loud for street use if you ask me. I may have to go with 3" if I do a big cubic inch windsor though. Thats why I'm thinking go cheap right now. Spend the big bucks on the exhaust for the built motor.

Whatever you decide, don't get a cheapo X-pipe. I've personally seen the difference and my Dr. Gas is a far superior piece to my old no-name pipe. The x-junction is the key.

It will probably be whatever I can come up with used for cheap for the shorties that are on the car now. Then I'll just spend the bucks on a dr. gas when I get long tubes.

:D Right before i put my car away for the winter, me and my dad jumped in my car with open headers and et drags and went tearing throught the country side! Yes there are advantages to the corn belt! I would've got crucified if i got caught though. I'll have some sound files of the rpm muffs for everyone at the end of the month since no-one in the world has heard them but me it seems like.

Sean you got the x right.

IMO stay away from the Bassani, BBK, Magnaflow style of X pipes. The merge they use is nothing like the DR gas design and from personal experience the sound is different. It seems that those three sound more like a chambered pipe than an X pipe. I would by a cheap X pipe that had the DR gas merge over an expensive X pipe with the stamped out welded up mess that BBK and some of the others use. Just my .02:)

As for catbacks, well for rich dudes like yourself brandon I would go with the custom Dmax welded ultra flow kit from brothers performance.:)

lol, I'm not rich! I'm probably going to go with a mac setup, then just swap the mufflers out later. I'm thinking about some from straight line performance, racemufflers.com, .

I thought I was the only one that swore by dr gas, and not bassanni. lol
