Adding Novi to a N/A setup

Hey, I'm setting up my car right now with AFR 165 heads, Edelbrock Performer intake, and custom Flowtech cam. Basically, it will be a N/A setup. The whole setup should get me like 320whp, which will be good for awhile so I can save up and maybe do some much-needed exterior/interior stuff to the car (wheels, paint, etc). My goal is to get like 400whp, and I know I will need a SC to accomplish this. Will there be any problems with slapping the Novi 1000 to this setup? I would upgrade to 42lb injectors, and already have a 75mm TB and 80mm MAF. The compression is stock. Thanks for any help!

Yes, That set-up would work great with a NOVI 1000. I can tell you 1st hand how awesome that little charger works.:D

sure it would! It works great for me and you have 1 up on me. I have stock heads :)

You might want to upgrade the fuel pump, and get a fuel pressure regulator

Oh I forgot to mention that I also have a 255lph fuel pump and a Kirban AFPR.

Damn mheinjr your motor has 140k on it! So does mine. I was originally planning on getting a crate motor before getting the Novi, but maybe I should just slap it on my motor now. Did you get a tune? Have you been dynoed yet? How much boost are you running? Sorry for all the questions, but it sounds a lot easier to skip the new motor and go right for the supercharger.

So do you think there should be a problem using my 140k stock block? Thanks for the help!

that should run very well. BTW Run it for a year and see how it holds up. Worse case you get a new shortblock like you planned anyway. My 120k shortblock had about 175 passes, 50 @ 7 psi, and 20 or so @ 10psi. No problem
89 Coupe with parts stacked inside of it and about 30#'s of dust on it with no end in sight. :weird:

    Although I am collecting parts for a 12.5:1 393 :D

I made 327 rwhp with my 306 and I just threw on a 1000 with powerpipe and make 7psi. You will like the results. I'm hoping for 460ish when dyno/chip tuned and you sould be close too

What was done to your 306 when you made 327rwhp? I would be happy with 420rwhp tops. It is my daily driver afterall! 7psi sounds perfect to me also. Would 400rwhp be okay for a daily driver? Thanks for all the help guys! Later.

Damn that's awesome. I never heard of anyone making that much horsepower N/A with Edelbrock heads! Was your compression stock?

I made 434 RWHP with stock pulleys and it was real rich. 24* total timing.

as far as comp. ratio goes it's standard .30 with 9.1 trw pistons and 60cc heads. Edelbrock heads are just as good as tw and afr so it's not really all that suprising

I'm not saying that they're not as good, it just seems that everyone on Stangnet who posts dyno results with Edelbrock heads are below 300rwhp. The only heads that seem to go over 300rwp N/A are AFR's and TW's. I think it's awesome that you got so much power out of yours, especially since they are a lot cheaper than AFR's! Thanks again for all the help! Later.

well it all depends on the combo. I've seen people with tw heads, compcam, intake ect.ect ect. only make 269 on the dyno and I also saw an FTI car only make 284 with afr prep'd by him so it raelly all depends on the combo not the heads. The heads are all equal on that power level

The little Novi was the best performance mod I ever spent money on......Although it has caused me to spend a heck of alot more that the $1400 I paid for the blower, this stuff is addicting!!!
