newbie here :-D Opinions on my combo

Hello all,

I'm a former Vortech guy here, but made the switch to the dark side LOL! My goal is to run high 9's, which really shouldn't be too hard if I spin the blower up. Currently, I have a 78/35 cog setup which comes out around 52,000 at 6500, but will probably up the blower cog to 30/31 and be spinning the blower around 58,000-60,000. I think this would get the car into the 9's easily even at its porky weight!

However, I would like to try and run fast with 93 octane. I was considereing an 8" renegade type 8rib setup. Would shoot for somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 psi of boost. I went 11.09 at 128 on 93 with my s-trim at 15 psi. How good do you think my can will run with 93/conservative boost using the Novi??? It weighed 3520 with me in it. Now with the Dart block, I think the weight will be closer to 3600 with me in it. Thanks for the input

Here's my new combo:

331-Dart block (4340 stuff) 9:1 compression
Twisted wedge heads (270 intake/210 exhaust)
544/560 Lunati cam with 1.7's
Novi 2000 (have 78/35 cogs--may up the blower to 30/31)
Victor Jr (EFI) intake
75mm TB
1 5/8 headers (long tubes)---do plan to upgrade to 1 3/4-1 7/8
3" custom x-pipe/flows
AOD-e lockup (probably stall in the 4500-5000 range now)
70/30s
upper/lower control arms in back (adj)
air bag or rear anti-sway
28 X 12.50 Et Streets
3.73
Shift point should be around 6500-6700

Welcome to the site.

I'm not sure and i don't have facts to base this on, but the Novi 2000 might make more than 15 psi @ 60000 rpms! With 8" renegade setup i think it would be aggresive for pump gas. if you can tune it for 10-12 psi on 93 you should be easy 10's. I'd put race gas in it and let it rip on the weekends though!

I'm sorry. I knew I was putting too much info in one post--LOL!!

Currently, I have the cogs that will pull the impellar rpm around 52,000. I think that will get me close (9's on race gas), but I"m sure the 30/31 cog (which will put me around 58,000-60,000 impellar rpm) will do the trick ;-)

With the renegade setup, I would pulley the blower back down to run on pump gas. Sorry for the confusion. I hope to run around 15 psi and hope to run well within the 10's. That is really what I was looking for. Not sure what pulley sizes to run though. I do have a bottom 10 rib crank pulley now (7"). Maybe I should just run that. Anyone try both a the 10rib and 8rib/Renegade style pulley setups. I've heard the 8" -- 8 rib setup works better then the 10 rib due to the belt wrap. Take care...
