    6al + Btm = 6btm ?

This may seem like a stupid question but is a MSD 6AL ignition piggybacked with a BTM (from a Vortech kit) equal in function to a MSD 6BTM igniton?

Actually its better with the 2 boxes because you can also set what rpm you want to start pulling timing at.

That isnt possible with the 6BTM.

Any of you guys have a wiring diagram/pic of the 6AL and BTM combo? I don't have any of the components/manuals yet... just planning ahead.
    Thanks,
    Jason

The 6AL is easy, just buy the adapter harness for $15.oo.
The BTM is a little more complicated, the adjuster knob goes into the passenger compartment and then there are 4 wires to hook up. I'll post a pic if you want to see.

Any help (pics) would be great. Does the BTM go between the 6AL and the coil or what?

A little late on the reply but....drop me an e-mail. I'll see if I can dig up my wiring diagrams, scan them & e-mail them back to you.

Keep in mind that I have a Digital 6 though, but the wiring should be the same for the core wires.

Better yet, here's a link to all of MSD's instal manuals.

You can download the complete instructions for both the 6al and the BTM.

Just click on "downloads", then on "instructions"

For some reason I am not getting the pics on the download. I am about to install the vortech boost retard stand alone unit with my 6AL if some body has a diagram that would save me alot of time. Thanks michael.dickinson@sbcglobal.net

I'm on the MSD website and want to download the right instructions.

Is the MSD BTM #8762 the same as the Vortech box?

    Thanks,
