    Need help ASAP

Ok I am changing out the timing chain cover gasket today. I have it stripped down to just the cover, and the balancer. How can I get this balancer off without air tools? I don't have access to air tools, so it will have to be done by hand. I have tried a couple of times, but all it does is turn the balancer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Put the car in gear and pull the E brake if you still have it.

Thats how I have done it in the past without air tools.

You also need a puller to get the balancer off if you didnt know that.

put it in gear, chock the wheels and get the breaker bar. You'll need a balancer puller though. use the loan-a-tool service @ auto zone. Watch the radiator!

Yeah I've got the loaner tool from Autozone that I never used and never took back about a year ago. It was brand new and my buddy is a manager there so he said just keep it and the charge will show up later. Let me go try that. Thanks for the help!

Just double checking. The center bolt comes off counter-clockwise like any other bolt right? I have it in gear with the e-brake on, and it still won't budge. It pulls the balancer with it to a certain point, then feels like its almost strecthing as I pull harder. When I stop pulling, it moves back clockwise about 3 inches. Hope this is normal...

that is normal. If you're really scared to rip on it borrow a compressor and a impact. An impact buzz's them right off.

I am just going to go buy a bigger breaker bar. I need one anyway. If that doesn't work, then I will have to find a compressor to borrow. Thanks for the help. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Oh I ate my Lucky Charms this morning, that must be the problem! Ok, I got a bigger breaker bar and got the bolt off. Now I am working on getting the pulley off with my pulley puller. I can only get 2 bolts to line up on the dampenerfor the puller. Is it supposed to be fairly hard to walk the balancer off with that puller? I have been working on it about 5 minutes, and it just seems like its a little too hard for what it is supposed to do, but then again I have never pulled the dampener off before. Just want to make sure I am not forcing it. I have a couple of pictures with how its set up if that helps any, and can take more if needed.

Thanks for the help so far guys!

you really need all four lined up. If it is the original balancer they can be real muthas. try and get the other bolts lined up.

I tried when I first put the puller on, and I didn't see anyway for them to line up. I will post the pictures I have in my photo album so you guys can see what I am talking about. This should be the link, if not, they are in the photo post.

When all else fails take a little torch to it and heat it up some, not too much or you'll fry that rubber crap in the stock balancer.
