OK, who has a Flaming River rack?

I'm thinking about removing the power steering. How much weight will it save? How do you like it? Any down-side going with the quick-ratio rack?

I am using the FR kit - steering rack, tie rods, and steering shaft. The install was a breeze, looks awesome, FR makes quality parts.

I am using 15X5 Draglites on the front and try to drive the car as much as possible. I do not regret the move to manual steering at all.

Not sure on the weight, maybe 20-30 lbs?

I have one as well, someone used to advertise the weight difference I think it was around 30#'s or so as well. Can't really give you much input on how it drives and my likes/dislikes there but I was not bothered by bypassing the p/s pump, so I should like this much better.

    Thanks for the info.
I sure would like to knock off another 30# or so from the frontend, considering I will be retaining the a/c for another year. Mainly because I am going to "try" to compete in 5.0 magazines King Of The Street contest. I wonder how much it will hurt my cars streetability (in their opinion) by eliminating the p/s?

Just remember quicker ratio means more effort to steer than slow ratio.

hmm really? more effort? Maybe your right but that more effort won't matter since it turns faster!

I just ordered one off ebay for like $424
