I personally would not go with 4.10's though, I go through the traps now at around 6300 with 26" tall tires. Just my opinion though, but most street blowers like 3.55-3.73.
I agree with Frank! Stick w/ 3.55-3.73 gears. You will not regret it :)

    my numbers

I had 483 rwhp and 460 rwtq with my combo.I have a low comp. DSS 331 with AFR 185's,Anderson Ford Motorsports B-41 blower cam.I figured that 483 comes out to about 512 at the flywheel. If someone can post pics for me I'll email some motor pictures for you all,I think it looks pretty sweet.Oh I almost forgot I have an 8 in crank pulley and got 12 lbs out of my 1000...Matt

512HP at the crank is about 410RWHP; using the 20% drivetrain loss theory if using an automatic tranny. 483RWHP is closer to 600 at the crank.

I'm have a 5 speed tremec.Does anyone have a more accurate way of figuring flywheel hp?I've always heard 10-20% hp loss through a manual.

  8. #23
Safe bet is about %15 drivetrain loss thru a manual tranny.

I do not believe in all that % losses through the drive train. Lets pick a nice number say 20%. If i have a motor that makes 300 r.w.h.p. and a motor that makes 500 r.w.h.p. running through the same drivetrain you are telling me that it takes 40 more h.p for the 500 horse motor to turn the drivetrain? The 300 r.w.h.p. should make 360 at the motor and the 500 r.w.h.p. should make 600 at the motor according to the 20% rule. I dont think so.

My .02 worth. Noone ever listens but I'm going to post anyway. Drivetrain losses on an AOD is generally 20-25% depending on buildup and torque converter. A T-5 generally has 16-17%. Tremecs usually have 17-19% depending on model.
As far as power goes on a Novi 1K, well, it depends on your car. Me personally, I think most 5.0's have aboout 350-400hp with a Novi 1K, depending on other mods. I've seen higher and I know it's possible but 350-400 is realistic for an every day driver. 4.6's seem like they have a bit more in them for some reason (99+ models), but nothing crazy.
Like I say, that's my 2 cents worth. I'd say I'm running in the 350-400 rwhp range. We'll see summer with the new mods.

    :)

Here's my novi 1000 with stock pullies, a morpheus pipe and a C&L76. TW heads, HolleyII intake and the TFS#1 cam. I never got a dyno after i did the 8" crank pulley but i gained about 5-6mph in the 1/4 mile. ;)
