Question Most HP, Fastest ET with YSi?

O.K guys. What is the most HP/TQ that has been made with a new YSi? What was the combination? What is the best ET/MPH? With what combo?

I made 645hp/696tq on a 302 with 27 psi air-to-water IC (27/77 cog) (6800rpm engine)through a powerglide. The AF was 12.0 to 12.5 (lean)The peak tq was before or right at 4000rpm. Timing was only 17 and air charge temp was 65. I was still running a Mass Air Meter ( which was not cal for the big blower ) with a PMS and injectors that were toooooooooooo small. I am anticipating making more with the same combo but now with a FAST seq and 96's.

Then i am going to put in the new 345, new heads, new cam and try it again.

    Let's hear them!

Yeah, That's what i'm talking about! Thanks for posting Pat. That is awsome.
Just imagine if that was not Ren. Trim, a short runner intake and air to water IC.

We kick that kinda stuff around all the time. If our bugs ever get all worked out we may start to experiment with that kind of stuff.

Well from what i am hearing it sounds like the YSi is a good high 8 sec blower. With the right setup and tune of course.

    Thanks for the replies.

What type of torque curve with YSi

Those of you with the YSi now, what did you have before. I had an S- trim, before the YSi, and i had a lot more low end torque. 150-200 ftlbs at 3500 RPM and under. After 4500RPM the YSi is ahead. The YSI ended up with about 100 more ft lbs and 130 more rwhp at 6,000 rpm.

    560rwtq/631rwhp -- YSI 460rwtq/501rwhp --S-trim

    8"/3"pulleys 6200 RPM shift 6.87"/2.95"pulleys 6,000 RPM shift

So far my preliminary runs have showed no improvement in the 1/8 mile time, increase mph only, but the mph in the 1/4 went up 4 mph and et down a little more than a tenth so far. Also switched my 26X10 slick for Hoosier QTP 27x11.5. That may have a little to do with the lower increase et, but not much. No traction issue. Awesome tires.

But with all that extra power times should have gone down a little more
Looks like the lack of low end torque is hurting.

I will be switching my 3 inch sc pulley to a RR 2.7. the one day on the street it seemed to make a big difference.

I will retune and see what happens

Any input. Basically are you seeing loss of low end torque like me or what.

What are you launching at? If your car can handle it try to lauch at a higher rpm to take advantage of the shift in your torque curve.
I have had an s-trim, y and ysi. the ysi has made the most hp and torque but yes the torque does come in later than the s.
Also by going to a larger diameter tire you are now crossing the 1/4 mile at a lower rpm.
My peak torque was between 4000-4500rpm with my ysi.

I am going to be putting out some big numbers with my YSi here soon, hopefully. I'm crossing my fingers for 700 RWHP on pump gas, and some 145 MPH traps.

ren352..sounds like a nice combo. What are you using for tunning? FAST, PMS, etc? Are you going to use an air-to-water or air-to-air? How much boost are you going to run?
Our combo's are going to be close. I just pulled out my 302 and am putting in a 345 w/TEA ported Vic Jr.s and custom solid roller.
Good luck and keep us posted. I will do the same.

Last Friday i went 9.9 @ 132 with the blower belt shreading apart a little after the 1/8 mile. 1/8 was 6.3 @ 111mph, 60' was a 1.4 Race weight is 3445 pounds. The FAST data-log showed the tune was a fat 10.0-10.5 to 1. This was only the fourth pass with this new setup. We are going to try a bigger blower pulley and possibly 50mm cog pulleys on the 345. Maybe this will solve the problem.

    to big for me

just looking in on you big boys, referance to the s-trim combo,my 82 gt with a preped bottom end and (yes) stock heads ported,e-cam,cobra intake,s-trim (17 psi) and a powercooler, made 565rwhp,587rwtq.hp was at 5300rpm and torque was at 4700 rpm,not bad for a stump puller,oh ya the car weights,3230 with driver, hooks 137 60fts and runs 1030;s @ 133mph ,with bad shifting trust me my mom can shift better than me ,looking to put a auto in hopefully the car picks up et.
