    Edelbrock performer heads

i'm llooking at getting a set of the edelbrock performer heads for my 5.0 as my originals are worn out. Durn thang is as noisy as a cheap porno queen in a bad movie. I wanna keep it cheap and I see Jegs has a set around $525-$550.

Anybody have any experience, or any tips to pass on about these heads

That's gotta be the price for either a bare set of heads or for one complete heads, they usually run closer $1000-1100 complete

    Cool

That price would be for one single assembled head as you couldn't even buy a bare set for that. A bare single Performer head sells for $466 @Summit.

Great heads for the money. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.;)

They also have helicoiled bolt holes unlike all the other major players.

I'm running a set of the edelbrock Performer RPM's. They weren't first choice cause there's a lot of better flowing out there but I got them at a great price I couldn't refuse. Now that I have them I'm really happy with them...the quality is top notch (like mentioned the heli coils).

yeah, reading the not-so-fine (as in "blatently obvious") print declared them to be priced individually. Gotta stop drinking all those Corona's at night..

..well maybe i'll only drink half as many now.. maybe I'll just buy one for the bad side (small joke, very small).

..btw, if i pick up a PAIR of them, what else would I need besides gaskets? Can I use my original rockers? Edelbrock also claims the bolt holesa re drilled larger than the holes on the block..

You'll need a set of step bushings and head bolts. The step bushings are there because the heads are drilled to a half inch for use on 351s.

I would not use the stock rockers but you can if you have to.

What intake do you have right now?

i'm using the stock intake right now.. where i live shipping will add about half as much to the price of buying the one I want. The shipping-not buying the parts is what kills me. If I change the heads, i'm going to have to live with the stock intake for a while. iI'm also using a set of cheapie Hooker Headers on the car now.

I'm not concerned with smog fittings on the heads..that stuff (the pump, cats and air feed tubes) all went away some time back.

actually you don't need any thing besides gaskets. I would get arp bolt's. Almost a must!

You don't need the extra sleeves for the 1/2" holes since your dowl's will work the same as not do anything different

Get them. I think they are better than TW and AFR 165cc

anybody ever ran into a problem with running the edelbrock heads without the stepped bolts? I forgot I needed those when I installed mine with stock bolts and now i'm afraid of the boost. Will the dowels be enough to hold it.

I ran my TW's like this for two years, one with the blower and had no problems. They were drilled to accept 1/2" bolts for a 351.

Don't worry about it. They are out for sale in the market to make $. Kinda like the Tornado Twister. Won't do Chit. The dowels on your block hold them fine. Why did you re-use your stock head bolts?

    what about 2.02 valve heads

p/n 60299..edelbrock claims notched pistons have to be used. Is this so on my 89 5.0?
