Stupid Quest. But Cant find an Answer

Ok guys I know this is not a Supercharger question but i cant seem to find the answer on the net. I am planning on buying a 331 stroker motor and want to know what the difference between a long block and a complete engine is. So far all i know is there is about a 1700 dollar differance in an ad in my 5.0 Mustang Mag.
Also I am thinking about selling my Novi 1000 kit and was wondering if anyone knows what they are going for used. Its almost new. I bought it in Dec. and it has about 500 miles on it.

years ago when I was even more younger than I really am now, me and pop bought an advertised BB Chevy "long block."

It was an assembled short block with heads. no more.

Complete was just that. I remember seeing a GM Goodwrench 5.7 advertised as complete, and I remember it had pretty much everything..valve covers, too. No alternator, electrics (did have a distributor) but I can't remember if it had a water pump.

You're best bet is to contact each vendor and ask what exactly their longblock or whatever terminology they use consists of, that way you get no surprises.
