Change Harmonic Balancer?

In my procharger manual it says that you have to switch from the stock balancer...is this true or can i do without that?

I always recommend changing the balancer to an SFI approved unit.....the stocker is a POS and prone to breakage due to the load incurred from the blower crank pulley. If you're on a budget (or not!) the Powerbond/Pioneer is hard to beat for the money...I've seen them sell for as little as $150.

As long as you are running a stock short-block you'll need a 50 ounce unit.

Oh, I also recommend that you spray the balancer with a nice coat of clear prior to installing. This will keep it from rusting on you.

Will a liquid filled steel unit that is sfi approved work?

Stick with a non-liquid filled unit. I don't recall all the specifics but there have been some good debates on this subject on the Corral. The non-fluid type always came better recommended for our application. Plus if you are looking at the Fluidampner, the Powerbond/Pioneer will run you about half the cost.
