How much boost can I run w/ 9:1 compression?

Hello, I am new to the world of supercharging. I have a 331 stroker with Probe 9:1 compression forged pistons. I plan on adding a Vortech S Trim.

My question is, how much boost can I "safely" run with this setup?

When I say "safely", what I mean is the car will be street driven all the time and will be running crappy California 91 octane gas. I want to make sure the motor lasts a long time and is reliable.

I plan on upgrading the fuel system (36lb injectors, adj regulator, BBK inline pump, and 255lpr in tank) and getting a safe street tune.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

what heads and intake? For a street car i would tune for 8-10 psi and don't get greedy with the timing.
89 Coupe with parts stacked inside of it and about 30#'s of dust on it with no end in sight. :weird:

    Although I am collecting parts for a 12.5:1 393 :D

I plan on running Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads (61cc) and a gt-40 intake w/ a fully ported and polished lower intake.

The S-Trim kit I bought came with a 8lb and a 12lb pulley. When I get the motor together I was going to run the 8lb pulley and was considering stepping up to the 12lb later on. However, I am concerned that 12lb is too much boost to run reliably on the street.

I'd just run the stock pulleys....Trust me, you'll have plenty of power with the 331! 12 is not too much with the proper tune although your injectors may not keep up. But @ 8 i think it'll be a well rounded setup.

Be sure and post back with dyno numbers if you don't mind.

Cool. Thanks for the advice. I thinking keeping the boost down is a good plan :)

I am still in the process of gathering parts and putting the engine together so I will probably have lots more questions!

I hope to have the car on the road before the end of the year. I will definitely post the dyno numbers once I get them!
