    Did you ever check your compression before you tore down your motor? Wouldn't the compression leak down real fast if all the rings were lined up? My compression was 170 plus or minus 3 lbs on every cyl. But if compression can still be good with the problem you had, then it's possible.

    I did a leakdown on the motor before we tore it appart. The cylinders varied between 12% - 20% leakdown. I didn't do a compression test.

    My new motor had less then 1% leakdown on every cylinder when it was fresh. Now after a ton of passes, it is still less then 4% on each cylinder.
