    HP Performance Twin Kit + 98 Cobra = 900rwhp

Ah yes. My buddy decided that the old v1 s trim wasn't doing the built motor in his cobra justice about world ford challenge time this year, and got hooked up with the HP guys at their booth at world ford challenge. Next thing ya know, the guy has a pair of hybrid 67's on the way along with a full kit from HP Performance. Upon recieveing everything, he started to install it. Ran into some clearance problems, and then made the decision to drive from st. louis to their shop in roswell New Mexico to have them assist in the install. We left town (oklahoma city) Wednesday morning and headed towards roswell. Got their around 1, and started working on the car. We had to wait for the qa1 k member to show up, so we got about everything done we could, and where off to dinner. Thursday morning we slept in, and waited for the k-member to show up. It go there around noon, and to work we went. The kit fit nicley, despite a couple small hicups caused by either some solid motor mounts, or a 1 off k-member (still undetermind). Once everything was installed (about 6 hours) we where off to the get the thing aligned. Drove the car back to the shop finished buttoning things up, loaded it on the trailer, and the owner of the car myself, nathan, and jimmy where all on our way to Albaqurque New Mexico to have the car tuned by Chris Groves at the Dyno Edge. Tunning was going to be done using diablo software, and the stock computer. 24 dyno pulls later, Chris was able to produce 900.3 rwhp and 744ft/lb's of torque from this 283 cubic inch motor. This was done at 20 lb's of boost, and 17 degrees of timing. The only thing keeping the car from making 1000 hp is the lack of larger injectors and another fuel pump. Who says modulars are Don't make power.

    Run down on the car:
98 Cobra, suspension, full fuel system, yada yada.
Stock block, crank, good rods, and 8.5-1 compression forged pistons
Ported stock heads, with crane regrinds
    Hamilton Clark Intake
    72# injectors, a1000 fuel pump
Stock elctronics, with a Diablo chip

    10#'s 15 degrees of timing = 544rwhp
    20#'s 17 degress = 900rwhp and 744ft/lb's of torque.

    Spinning the motor to 7800rpm.

    Closing.

I can't speak Highly Enough about Jimmy And Nathan and the rest of the crew at HP Performance. These guys are very excited about this hobby, and show a real care for each one of their customers. They even went to the extint of feeding us launch at their own house on one occasion. I just can't speak highly enough of them. Their shop is filled with all kinds of turbo projects, all while the production department blasts away at producing kits to fill all the orders. There is way more work then workers here.

Also, a special thanks goes to Chris Groves at the Dyno Edge (505-299-3313) for doing the impossible and tunning 900 ponies out of a stock computered 98 cobra with a little diablo chip. Chris know's his stuff!

    Pictures and Video to come.
