Lightbulb Novi 2000 Belt Application Guide

A recent post has brought up the need for a Guide for people trying to size up belts. Remember you can measure around the pulleys with a string to get a basis for length. Since we don't have the links page anymore all belt/pulley related info can be added to this thread. If anyone sees a pulley combination not listed on here, please list the pulleys and what size belt you used and who made it in a reply and I will add it to the list. Lastly make sure you know what width belt you need with corresponding pulleys, AKA 8,10 rib for serpentine or 30,50mm for cog belts.

    Serpentine Pulleys

I use a Dayco 5080560 for an 8 rib 56.0" belt. You have to force it on, but you can get some serious tension before bottoming out the belt tensioner.

Anyone else? Please post up what belts any of you 35mm cog users use. I know that is the common cog setup for passenger mounts since the stock idlers are wide enough for that width of belt. Please let everyone else know what belts have worked for you and what you've tried.

Are you talking about a passenger side mount Novi 2k? If so, that's a good one. I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to figure that one out. What it all came down to was, the closest way was to go to the outside of the idler pulley and the belt would need to be somewhere around 59.5"-60". The problem is Gates, Goodyear, and Dayco all make a 58.5" and then skip to a 61.75".

It wouldn't matter anyway unless you can figure out how to avoid the waterpump pulley. Even with a 93 Cobra waterpump pulley, it will rub. I shaved off .200 of my Cobra w/p pulley and it still wouldn't work.

What it comes down to is you will need an electric water pump AND have a custom idler pulley made smaller to shorten the belt so you can use a 58.5".

If anyone else can figure out another way, I'm open to suggestions before I void my warranty and just pulley it the old fashioned way.

Yeah, I havent heard anybody that was using the pulley combo and what belt size to use that is why I ask. I am not worried about the warranty since I am the second ower on the blower.

I am looking for a supercharger pulley to make around 15 psi on a free flowing 331. If anybody knows what pulley size and belt size I need it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Well I'm looking for the same thing. I'll let you know when I figure it out. I'm hoping to have it running (and tuned) in a few weeks.

Yeah let me know what you figure out. I am looking around 15#'s of boost with my 331 w/ AFR 205's and Holley systemax stage 3 ported intake. I am looking for around 550 to the real wheels. I am suppose to be putting the motor and novi in this weekend and having it tuned next weekend. So I am trying to get the pulley before the tune so I dont have to get it retuned.

Mine won't be done by next weekend. Well, it probably will, but I won't have it tuned by then so I won't have any numbers to post. I'm in Oklahoma City and have to drive to San Antonio (10 hours) to get it tuned. It's going to be a weekend trip closer to the holiday. I've got some pretty decent parts, but my heads and intake aren't going to flow as much as yours. You should make closer to 625-650rwhp @ 15psi.

I emailed dayco about belt sizes and told them what I was looking for.

The size they said they had was a 10 rib - 60 inch belt. I am not sure if this would work or not, but I figured I would post the part # just in case if anyone is interested.

    Dayco part # is 5100600

That would probably be really, really close though I think it would probably need closer to a 59.5". But you'd still have to have the electric water pump.
