Jayco PS in an A-body Chevy

New here.......FWIW. Anyone on this site put a D1SC in a chevelle/el camino with power steering? The Saginaw PS relocation from Procharger aint even close to making the pump fit. They said to convert it to a Jayco. Any help with this is appreciated.

Well, Doug, salutations to you too. Thank you sincerely for nothing:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: Worst case, I pull the steering box and pittman arm and regress to manual steering.

What's wrong with the Jayco P/S? It's a pretty clean looking setup IMHO. Much better than the Saginaw P/S.

What I need(ed) is the necessary parts to convert the system to the GM Type-II or Jayco system, such as how to convert the hose fittings/pump resevoir/pump fittings to use on an A-body. I believe the Jayco uses metric fittings. I was hoping that someone could tell me something like: buy the pump for a '96 Impala at Autozone/Pep-boys/Kragan/etc and use a certain type of pressure hoses from a certain type of vehicle, etc. etc. I can wing it, I was hoping someone already had done it and knew the specifics.

A friend of mine used one of ProCharger's Jayco P/S bracket kits and he was able to re-use his current P/S hoses. ProCharger supplied a fitting in the bracket kit that converted the hose sizes.

Okay, thanks to a poster on the chevelle site, I have the info I need and got the GM Type-II system minus the brackets which ATI is exchanging for the Saginaw stuff. Hopefully it does have the necessary stuff. If not, both Aeroquip and XRP are around the block from where I work so I will get the proper fitting and have them make me some hoses

Is Jayco a MFG of a power steering pump or a style of pump. I have the procharger relocation brackett and they said I need a "Jayco" type II pump. Where can I get one? Can I use a summit, March Type II pump?

I'm sure that Summit can get you one, however, tech support can be the problem there. I got my pump from KRC, which is in Georgia. You can try Street and Performance who are in Arizona for much less money. What type of car and motor are you putting these brackets on?

You can get them from NAPA. The part numbers are 20-875 for an angled inlet or 20-704 for a straight inlet.

I bought a 20-875 pump from NAPA. I need to know what size fitting and thread pitch is required on the pump to the line that goes to the steering box.

Are you talking about the -06 to 16mm fitting? You should be able to find it locally, but if not, ProCharger has them for $14. Part# GF100I-001

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Is the procharger supplied unit steel or aluminum?
