    Rear Gears with S-trim?

I am currently running 3.27 gears, would 3.73 gearsbe too low with boost? I have a set of 3.73 gears ready to be installed. I have a 5-spd Trans

I am kind of poor right now and my motor is being installed right now(by me) would I hate myself for selling the S/C and just installing the gears to wake it up in NA form?

I like my 3.55's. Good street gears. If I went to the track more than 2 or 3 times a year I would do 3.73's. YES, you would hate yourself!

I second that. I'm sure I would benefit from stepping up to 3.73's from my current 3.55's, but I've had both, and prefer the 3.55's.

Yes you will hate yourself if you sell it, be patient. I love my 3.73s for the shear "pucker factor" combined with the blower.

What kind of tires are you guys running to try to hook up the power with boost and low gears. my car has 245/45/16's in the rear and even with higher gears(327) they just bake in the 1st couple gears. I have a 5 lug set up sitting in the garage and eventually want to install it and mount up 99 cobra wheels or something.

Bald-*** 245/40/17 Dunlops here. Getting some Nittos before long. Also run 26x10.5 ET Streets. Good luck getting anything to really hook up (outside of the track). Even my ET's will bake the hell outta 1st on the street.

    Hmmm

The gear ratio you use depends on the height of rear tires you are planning on running. If you are going to run a 26 inch tall tire 3.55 is the better choice, even with a slick. On the other hand 3.73s would perform better with a 28 inch tall tire.

yes i will agree with selecting your gears with the planned tire size. i've always had the 3.73s in the car even in n/a form. when the car had stock heads / cam and the s-trim i could make it to the traps at about 4000 in 4th gear @ 113 mph. with the afr's i am about 30-50 ft short hitting the rev limiter in 4th and still trapping 123 mph. (this is with 26 in tires)

changing to a 28 in tire makes me cross the traps at about 5500 in 4th which is right on the money.

    3.73 are a good choice though :)

With 3.73s and my T5 running on 275/40r17 Nitto drag radials (which are 25.5in tall), I was hitting the rev limiter at 123-124mph (rev limiter of 6200). I was hitting the rev limiter around the 1000ft mark. On the same tire with 3.55s and my T56 I have plenty of track, on a test on a back road I was able to reach 132 in 4th at 6300rpms (I have the PMS now).

Cam selection can also effect which gears you use.

The motor I am running has a B cam in it, maybe not the best choice but it will work. Do you think it will favor lower gears?

I am so close to firing it up, but I need a new oil feed line and possibly a Air pump bypass pulley. I might just put a shorter belt on. Oh by the way if I didn't say it I have 3.27 gears right now. I really want to ditch my fan clutch and get an electric fan.. No money though
