    Tire sizing ?

I'm getting DR's and I need your input. Should I go 275/50/15 or 275/60/15? The 50 series has a 26.1" height and the 60 series has a 28" height. I'm wondering whether or not I will run out of gear @ the track w/ the 50 series.....I've got 3.73 gears. Thanks guys.

I believe you want the 275/50/15's.

Deppending on your max rpm's. You want the 275/50/15's. should be good to around 125 mph near ~6,000 rpm. Plus depends on auto or stick too. So depending on your stats, figure from here. But gives you a good start.

I figure that if I go w/ the 60 series tire, I may get better traction and thus a better 60' time since the taller tire will make my 3.73s feel more like 3.27s......and if I do that I will also get more on the top end.

Am I correct? Is this a good thing??? :weird:

I think either size you go you will be having a hard time hooking with that type of power. I would get a set of ET Street or Hoosier QTP's.

I ran a 26" ET drag and had great traction low 1.5 60' in a full weight cobra with a 351 motor making a little over 500HP and launching around 4500. Through a TKO and 3.55's. I ran the 275/50 15 DR and had 2.1 60'. But I did spend much time on those tires. Didn't enjoy it.

I have found the Hoosier QTP's to be a great tire. I now have ~670+ rwhp and have been getting 60' of high 1.4 on the 27x11.5 QTP's. They also require little burnout and about 12.5 psi. But I have noticed a loss of RPM's from the taller tire. Too tall for me. I am ~5700 RPM at the finish. I am going back to 26" tall tire. Should be around 6300RPM.

Oh and on the streets the QTP with 22 psi, I can smack second gear and they hook!! They are a nice tire and aren't to swirly.

    Hope this helps.
