Will this belt/tensioner combo work?

I have a 35mm cog belt on my Novi 2000. It is a poly chain belt. I'm wondering if a 36mm tensioner will work with it. There is little to no clearance (1 mm) between the sides of the tensioner and the belt.

Just wondering if the belt will want to walk up the shoulders of the tensioner or if it will be ok. Anyone else ever do something like this?

Also, how do you adjust the belt tension? Thanks guys.

I guess I have the only 35 mm belt setup out there :(
